I ordered the Fire Tablet HD 10.1” Plus, along with an “Amazon’s Choice” case, and soon I learned I liked the tablet, but the case not so much. I then ordered this case as a swift replacement, and I like it much better! The case included with the tablet purchase is sturdy, and the feature of the two parts magnetically joined for easy separation is cool, but there were two points I did not like right off, one was that the angle of the tablet while connected to the keyboard section didn’t seem to go back far enough, but also having a keyboard with no mouse was something I was not used to at all. I in fact ordered a trackball mouse to try and make up for it, but using the ball was overly sensitive with no way of adjusting it. I saw the Cooper case has a built-in trackpad, and upon receiving it i immediately felt it better. Also upon comparison, the “standard” case was very rigid, where the Cooper has more give to it. The Cooper has a stand built into it where the standard has a limited angle, and I feel that if I force it any more I’d risk breaking it. The angle on the Cooper is further back, ideal for a big guy like me, though I will point out the Cooper cannot stand at a 90° angle without something placed beneath the stand. But the Cooper feels more comfortable all around, and having the trackpad makes a world of difference! Not having used a tablet with a mouse is my own fault, I prefer having one, and the default is a smooth movement, and not too quick! The Cooper case is slightly larger, but this does not hinder nor help. The standard case was made for the particular tablet, whereas the Cooper is of a “universal” type (it also accommodates Apple, Android and other tablets of similar size), but the universal function keys are still useable even if they are not the same choices as the standard case. What I don’t like on the Cooper are minor differences, such as not having a key to go directly to a default Mail program, and lacking the ability to reprogram keys, which is one suggestion to the company, but on the other hand, their inclusion of copy, paste, select all and other features, the standard case does not offer. Finally having the keyboard magnetically attach to the case is a nice touch! The only other thing I would suggest to the Cooper people is to include a pocket just large enough for 1-3 folded pieces of paper. So to repeat, the main issue I like of the Cooper is the trackpad, and if you’ve never used a tablet before but have used a laptop, you’ll sorely miss not having a mouse to select items on the screen. First I will say that I wanted to like this product. It looks nice and professional so I tried to give it a fair amount of time before making any judgements. With regard to the keyboard, I've read reviews here which talked about various problems, but for me it worked quite well. There were a couple connection issues but mostly it worked as it should. But if you're the type of typist who rests your palms on a surface below the keyboard while you type you might find the mouse pad annoying as it's easy to move the cursor with your palm. I hold my hands up higher so I didn't have a problem at all. I didn't have any issues with letters repeating, getting stuck or any of that. And the keyboard didn't split as others have mentioned (nor did I find any gaps in he casing where this might happen in the future) so perhaps some of the units were not as well assembled as the one I received. It takes a bit of practice to use the mouse pad as there's no physical buttons so you have to click it just right or you'll move the cursor instead. But once you figure out how firm you need to press it it works as it should. The typing experience was fine, although a bit more angle to the keyboard would make it more comfortable for long typing sessions. But the key presses produced an acceptable amount of tactile feedback so I was happy with it. The reason for the 2 stars is the design of the case. The stand holds the tablet up fine...unless you move it at all. The leg which holds the tablet section up needs to extend back at more of an angle in order to allow movement. But instead, it extends to a straight vertical position so the slightest movement of the case (which will happen while typing) causes the stand to fold back in, either a little or all the way, causing the tablet section recline. It's annoying as H to have to stop typing to reset the screen or adjust the stand behind it because you moved the case. There is a solution to this problem which is to remove the keyboard and fold the keyboard section back and under the stand. But if you do this it ends up creating a long footprint behind the tablet section. And if you're going to do that you're better off buying a separate keyboard and a more compact case for your tablet. As to the quality of the case, it wasn't lacking in comparison with other available cases. However many cases of this quality are less expensive (even if you were to buy a keyboard with the case). The tablet corner attachments are nice in that they allow you to use the case with more than 1 type tablet as long as it's within the size requirements. However the rubber corner protectors aren't the best. They're flimsy and I can see them wearing out really quickly, thus no longer providing any protection to the tablet corners. Also, If you are the type of user who would remove the tablet frequently the corner attachments will wear out.There's only so many times they'll want to stretch before they decide to snap. And it's not easy to get the tablet in those clips just the way you want it. It requires fiddling, which may not be a big deal to some but annoyed me as my other case just has an opening and the tablet slips in like an envelope. Over all, I didn't find the tablet section to provide nearly as much protection to the tablet as I'd like. However, it's designed for universal use so with this there are limitations. Over all, I would not recommend this keyboard case. I prefer to buy the keyboard (the keyboard is sold on its own by 1byone) and use it with a more protective case. However if your intention is to have a keyboard case for a more professional environment then this would be acceptable. Just be aware of the limitations. ... show more

    • Beware the battery drain!!

So my first and favorite case sadly died and I had to find a new one. This case is the second one I got bc the first replacement didn’t have a backlit keyboard (more on that coming up) and the battery life was crap. I had high hopes for this one and it’s…okay but not what I wanted or what was advertised, really. From the graphics and the slightly quaint translations about the features, it appeared to have a power-saving/auto-sleep mode when you close it (it does as long as the keyboard is off as well), a backlit keyboard (it doesn’t) and a super duper battery life (it’s not bad but I use a full size epic Azio Retro Bluetooth keyboard most of the time so that def extends the battery life). I do like that the keyboard is nicely magnetized and the functionality of the keyboard is all there, as long as iOS users can adapt to the PC-based keyboard. Overall, it’s not bad but it’s not great either. And given that my three-year-old iPad has seemingly aged out of available cases, I’m down to very few options. ... show more

The keyboard case is protective of the iPad and functions as advertised. Just beware to read the instructions for the multi-gesture touch pad, as it was counter-intuitive, in my opinion. But, overall, a great keyboard case for the money charged.
