  • Small Amp Large Sound
Color: orange
I was looking for a battery powered acoustic instrument amp like the 50 Watt Roland Cube and happened on the Cool Music BP80 100 Watt battery powered acoustic guitar amp. After reading all the positive reviews and comparing prices, I ordered one. So far after a week of checking out the Cool Music Amp, it seems like a good buy. Not having a lot of experience with battery amps, I can only compare it to my Carvin AG200 (non battery) acoustic amp which sounded great until it started making weird noises. Sound and function wise, the Cool Music amp is actually a fair replacement for the Carvin, though the Carvin does offer more in terms of plug ins, effects, and power. It also costs twice as much and had sound problems that the dealer was not able to repair. The Carvin tips the scale at 29 pounds with the Cool Music amp at 22 pounds and the 500 clam 50 Watt Roland Cube at 16 pounds. So, the Cool Music rig is a little heavier than expected, but it offers 5-10 hours of battery powered play time according to the specs, I have used it about 3 hours at a time while the power reserve lights stayed at 2 bars out of 3. As for the sound, it provides a clear representation of the guitar, though seems heavy on the bass end, especially playing a nylon string classical guitar. You can adjust the EQ on the amp however to compensate. What do you expect for an 8 inch woofer I guess. Notice that there is also a bass version of this amp with an 8" woofer. My mandolin sounds great through the Cool Music amp. As for volume, this little amp is as others have said a real sleeper. It is way louder than you might expect. As for the build quality, it is surprisingly excellent. The fit and finish is great, the knobs all like machined aluminum. The amp feels tight like and well balanced. The jacks all work well and labels are clear. One kinda odd thing is that the amp laying on its long side has the labels upside down when looking down at the knobs as you will need to do. Its pretty easy to figure out, but odd. The amp is easy to haul around, and its size and lack of power cord makes the Cool Music amp a shoe in places where bigger amps cause extra hauling and set up issues. I haven't had time to check out all the functions that the Cool Music BP80 offers, and don't know how the amp is gonna last over time, but after a week it gets my thumbs up. ... show more

  • Cool Music BP80. Great choice!
Color: orange
How cool is that? I was looking for a battery-operated amplifier for playing on the street or as a second amp to create a stereo to my gear when playing in bigger venues. The BP-80 by CoolMusic (www.coolmusic-tech.com) provided me with everything I needed and much more. It is a complete 2-channel system with two inputs per channel, 100 watts of power, an 8-inch woofer, a 3-inch tweeter, low, mid, and high Eq., reverb on both channels, and chorus on one channel. The system has a Direct Out, comes with an output for headphones, and in and out 3.5 mm jack inputs for recording or playing with a cellphone or mp3 device. It has a switch for shutting off the speakers and a 48-volt switch for condenser mics. Additionally, it has a USB input and controls at the interface for start/pause, return, and forward. Perfect for playing music at a party. The system's sound is crystal clear with a good frequency response and range. I highly recommend the BP-80 by Cool Music for its flexibility and sound quality. Additionally, the Cool Music customer service is cool indeed. If you need anything, they are loyal to reply and help you. ... show more

  • Portable Amp with Superior Flexibility
Color: orange
I took a shot on this amp and was I glad I did. This is one of the most affordable combo amps on the market that closely compares to some of my more expensive recording amps. I bought this amp to limit taking a lot of equipment out to small gigs where I perform. The amp works great with my fender acoustic guitar and sounds amazing. I tend to get compliments at every gig on the quality and projection of sound it produces. Also and added bonus that it works with my existing speaker stands and can even operate on battery to reduce cabling required. It is able to connect with my midi controller; allows a seemless connection with a mic/guitar at the same time and like that it has its own mute function. For the price and versatility; I'd recommend to any musician who's looking for a small gig amp to reduce gear needs! ... show more

  • This is the system for a solo player or a small group
Color: black
I've only had this for a couple of weeks, but I think it's safe to say that I love it. I have gigged it once, and I've taken it to a bluegrass jam. The unit performs flawlessly. Take some time and dial in your sound and it will really sing. I was a bit skeptical but hooked my Yamaha piano to it and it sounded really good- nice and loud with a balanced tone. It is an excellent acoustic guitar amplifier. I have added a set of wireless rechargeable mics and once again, dial in the tone and it reproduces your vocal very well. The price is amazing for the utility. I think it can come close enough to the far more expensive comparables. The Bluetooth function works flawlessly, it's a great for karaoke or backing tracks for your solo gig. LOVE the battery power and not having to worry with outlets and cords. I plan to add a wireless guitar set up along with a set of in ear monitors. Very pleased, and can't wait to get my whole set-up going! This Cool Music unit is a game changer for me. ... show more

  • Great amp, but...
Color: orange
I love it but the Bluetooth is very noisy and the sound is muffled. I used the aux in with a little Bluetooth receiver and the sound is fantastic. The reverb would be a lot better with a decay control. I use my pedal and leave the amp reverb off. I feel these things are minor. The amp itself is just great with my electric viola and I would recommend it heartily! You can get 9vdc cables that plug into the USB outlet and run your pedals and keep it portable. Remember center pin is negative. ... show more

  • Just right
Color: orange
What a great little amp for my acoustic guitars. Powerful and clear, not too heavy to carry around and built like a tank. The orange is a bit much, but I play with my eyes closed
