This was good for about a year then it began making buzzing noises. Not exactly what you'd expect from a PSU literally marketed as "quiet". The buzzing happens when connected to any outlet, even isolated from any sound device. Replaced with another power supply and the system is quiet. Worst of all, the buzzing/coil whine, whatever, will come through any analog audio, so you can hear it when connecting headphones or trying to record audio. CoolerMaster's RMA process is very confusing, they have their regular site, then they have "FanZone", I'm not really sure of the difference. I went with FanZone, uploaded my receipt and stated my reason for request and the RMA was denied without any explanation as to why, no email, no response on the RMA page. The internal build quality looks nice and the fan cooling is quiet. The bad; mine has a huge amount of coil winding noise it sounds like I am using a dial up modem for those who know the sound, it is annoying to say the least, it would be horrible to stream with, and it probably wont last the 6 months. I’m pretty disappointed, this is the first coolermaster I have had any issues with I will have to swap it out for something else I wont use this unit. ... show more

    • Great inexpensive power supply
I'd strongly recommend this power supply for a "regular" computer with a single hard drive - and a video card that doesn't cost more than a small car. :) If you're building an "eXtreme!" system, you're probably not looking at this anyway. But if the power output is adequate for your needs, this is really a good choice. Cooler Master is an actual name brand, and this thing is shockingly quiet. Like, "almost silent" quiet. I got the 460 watt version, which has one string of old Molex connectors (three larger 4-pin connections and one smaller floppy connector) and two sets of SATA power connectors, two connecters each (for a total of 4 SATA connectors). It's got a couple of the 4-pin 12V connections and a 20/24 pin ATX motherboard connector. All of the individual harnesses have a zip tie roughly midway between the ends (and, on the multi-terminated sections, a zip tie between the connectors), which is a cheap way to keep the wires in a nicer bundle. The bad? - The motherboard connector isn't great, since the extra 4-pin segment doesn't firmly attach to the 20-pin segment, which makes it a minor hassle to install in a 24-pin board. - the wires are just zip-tied to the metal case, rather than passing through a strain relief or grommet. - only rated at >70% efficient, which means it's making a little more heat than necessary / consuming a little more power than it could - Has more power outlets for SATA devices than I needed, since I'm still using a PATA-based system. Those are pretty minor things, though, since the wires shouldn't really ever be moving around (so abrasion against the PS case isn't a big deal), and you only hook the motherboard up once (maybe 2-3 times if you upgrade a lot). And the efficiency, while not awesome, is probably better than whatever came in your generic case or most supplies more than a few years old. Overall, given how quiet this supply is and how well-constructed it feels, I think it's a very good bargain, and will be getting a couple more of these for some computers I have with loud fans and even less efficient no-name power supplies. BTW, if you're still using a non-SATA system, you should probably go ahead and order a couple of these ATA Male to LP4 Female Power CableS so that you can balance your devices across the separate harnesses. I'd personally suggest putting your optical drive on one harness, your hard drive on another, and fans on the third old-style harness. ... show more

Received item today and installed. Very well packaged to prevent damage. Easy to install. Power Supply is working great. Has more than enought connectors for my use. Has 4 Sata connectors. 2 legs with two per leg. Had to use a Y Sata adapter because of the very short distance between the Sata connectors on each leg-when hooking up dual Hard Drives. For the price and the connectors that come with it-That is not a problem. But, suggest anyone buying this power supply-consider getting a Y Sata adapter with it. Only disappointment was with the Amazon Prime 2 day shipping. It took three days. Am looking at buying another one. Just bought another one on 13 Feb 2012. Installed today-2/25/2012. Am not impressed with the 2nd one as much as I was with the first one. It doesn't seem to even have the punch as the 350 watt it replaced. Didn't expect there to be a big difference but did not expect to "Feel" that my computer decreased in performance. Still, very happy with the 1st one. 10/13/2012-----STARTING TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE FAN IN THE POWER SUPPLY. TWICE THE FAN STARTED RUNNING VERY FAST AND CONTINEOUSLY. SOUNDS LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT-IS TO SHUT THE COMPUTER OFF. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE. COMPUTER IS IN A WELL VENTILATED AIRCONDITIONED ROOM. POWER SUPPLY IS STILL WORKING BUT AM CONCERNED WHAT WILL HAPPEN-IF IT DOES IT AGAIN AND I AM NOT HERE. ... show more

More connectors than I needed. Main motherboard cabling for 24 pin and 8 pin connector are sleeved which is a nice touch. Fan draws air from top of supply and blows it out the rear of the computer case which is also a plus. With my old supply I was forever cleaning dust and pet fur away from the grill which could have contributed to its demise although it was a more cheaply made unit to begin with. I can't give it 5 stars since I don't know how reliable it is going to be but I am impressed so far. No reason at this time to assume it will not be reliable. ... show more
