  • worth the price and then some!
This is what I'm TALKIN' about. One of the things that really irritates the living daylights out of me is how crazy expensive tv stands are. I don't mind paying more for nice things, but even low quality particleboard tv stands are almost always in the triple digits. It's just ridiculous. So after scouring what felt like the entire internet for a tv stand that I actually felt comfortable paying the retail price for (that is a really awkwardly worded sentence, but you get my drift), I found this little fellow. For the money, I just said, "Well, if it doesn't work for the tv, it'll make a lovely sideboard/dvd rack/coffee table for guests we don't like very much/etc." But I couldn't be more pleasantly surprised at what we got. It's quite heavy and sturdy, and the directions were clear and the parts easily identified. (that last bit goes a LONG way with me, haha.) It's set up very nicely--the shelves are the perfect height, and it fits nicely into either a corner or along a wall. It's incredibly level with no tweaking required on my part, and the feet actually do give it just enough glide that you can nudge it short distances if you need to move the tv, at least on hardwood. The open back allows you to bring your cables through very easily, and as a bonus, it's open enough that you can see the back of your cable box, etc. It's a surprisingly good-looking hunk of furniture, to boot--goes nicely with everything else we have even though none of it is really the same color. It assembles in no time--probably took me 15 minutes, 10 minutes of which was trying to lift my 42" flatscreen by myself. (protip: don't. Especially if you're short. The base WILL fall out, and since you can't see your feet, the resulting TV Installation Dance will amuse your roommates for weeks.) It is worth noting that, when I purchased this, the Amazon listing did not include the max capacity, but the documentation that comes in the box indicates that it can hold up to a 42" tv. Phew! All in all, I'm very, VERY pleased with this, and am half-feeling like I should buy another one to keep as a spare. Except then my roommates would DEFINITELY nominate me for "Hoarders." ... show more

  • Fantastic value for the money
Color: Black
What a great TV stand for the money. Highly recommend if you are looking for something simple, nice-looking, light, and REALLY easy to put together or take back apart. It looks more expensive than the price would suggest. Great for anybody, but seriously ideal for people on a tight budget who move a lot (like college students). Pros: No tools required for assembly. Assembly took about 5 minutes. In fact, this is far and away the easiest furniture construction I have ever encountered; this feature alone is worth the price of the stand. Disassembly would also take about 5 minutes. I REALLY like this fact. I can keep taking it apart and putting it back together as I move. Although: see below on the plastic components. I have a (fairly light) 42" TV on it right now, but despite what the specs say, it could definitely hold a much larger TV and plenty of DVD players/etc. It looks really sharp. The boards look like real wood until you tap them, and the poles look like real metal until you ting them. Few people will need the wall attachment. This unit has a sturdy design and extremely unlikely to tip over. Cons: Plastic screw components - if you do take it down and reassemble it often, the plastic screws will end up getting stripped out at some point. The "caps" that screw onto the top of the unit and are visible are probably the least real-looking part of the whole thing. They look fine from a distance, but look plastic-y up close, and cheapen the effect just a little bit. If I could change one thing about the stand, I'd have asked for these to be black like the feet so they blended into the top. I would NOT get this wet, or put a drink on this stand. I suspect it would not withstand water well at all. The black board sections look wonderful, but they do not look waterproof, or even water-resistant. It is not overly adjustable; there is, however, nothing stopping you from assembling the three shelves any way that pleases you or even pulling out one of the shelves and one of the pole sets and making it shorter. The two larger shelves are absolutely identical, and all of the poles can accept each other, the feet, or the top caps. The only caveat is that a long board should be on the bottom or else it wouldn't be as stable. Don't sit on it. It looks so much like a real wood/metal product that you might be tempted to treat it that way. But it is poster-board and plastic for the most part, and you'd probably destroy it if you tried. The specs say up to 100 pounds, but I wouldn't risk it. If you need something that can hold more weight than that, this is not your unit. Summary: highly recommended. Somebody put serious thought into the overall design and user-friendliness of this unit while keeping the price down, and it paid off. I wish all boxed furniture was this well thought out, this simple to put together, and this good-looking. (and this cheap, but let's not get carried away) ... show more
