There are no instruction but there are pics on the box in addition to you should be able to figure out what 2 screws do. That said I only did a small, uncomplicated test and it worked perfectly to transfer a cut. The fit was spot on and I’m excited to use this with more things. Anyone confused, you loosen the screws as needed for the amount of resistance you need to measure. Once you have measured, pull the lock switch out on the other side to lock the marking. You then trace that onto what you’re cutting. It’s very simple. There is also the example in the product photos here. I can’t stress how simple it is. I thought it would be easy to use this thing and when I was looking for the non-existant instructions I figured, "Meh, I'll wing it, how hard can it be to figure it out?" Well, I am about to go down the YouTube rabbit hole looking for videos on how to correctly and most efficiently use this thing. I'm using it with Floor Pops peel and stick tiles, and because I want to trace the outline on the back of the tile, it's a little trickier than you might think. Ugh. Bought this to install engineered flooring and walls have some weird angles. When I first tried it, it was really stiff so I adjusted the screws. That helped but I still have some sticky plastic strips. If you want to get exact contour of delicate trim work, this will never work. When I press it on a flat surface to return the position to a straight line, I some of the plastic sliding tabs do not align. When I loosen the adjustment screws to get a fairly accurate measurement, it is so loose that the locking mechanism does not hold the plastic tabs tight and if you bump it, the tabs will move. A friend of mine had the stainless steel contour guage and I wish I would have spent the extra money to get the metal one. My friends contour guage is smooth and gets exact contour every time. ... show more

It's useable, but sort of wonky. Pins are very stuff which makess it hard to get an accurate relief of complicated outlines. I tried it installing some flooring hoping it was a time saver and found myself going back to the tried and true method of using a drafting compass. Doubt if I'll ever use it again ... show more
