I have lumbar radiculopathy which is very painful. This condition ended me up in the ER. Our insurance changed and a surgery copay to fix this would be way too expensive. I decided that I wanted to approach this conservatively. Please note that the night before this arrived, I was in a lot of pain. I asked for fast shipping so I could get this fast. When it arrived, I put it on. This back brace is high quality. I would not wear it next to the skin. I put a tshirt on and then put the brace on top of that. It wraps around back to front and stays with velcro, and then there are two rings in the front where you can adjust the tightness. Within just a few minutes of wearing it, the pain was down. Typically due to this condition I have not had good luck riding in cars, because the vibration of the road bothers my spine. Not so with the brace. I was able to drive 7 miles from my rural home into town and back home and the pain was way down. Almost imperceptible. When I took it off at night because you can't sleep with it at night, the pain was back. However, my physician prescribed pain reliever for overnight that works. The bottom line is that I, a patient with lumbar radiculopathy with some pretty bad pain, now view this brace as a partner in my conservative management of this condition. With my condition, my doctor advised against surgery. He saw the brace and said "that's a good thing to do". So I have his consent. Check with your doctor after you buy it. They are getting 5 stars because this is not flimsy. You can tell it is high quality and probably if this was durable medical equipment, it would cost 10 times as much. Let's just say they manufactured it like it should cost a lot more. I am very, very pleased with this product and it has truly helped my quality of life. They get an A plus! ... show more

Usually I like to wait a few weeks of trial before I review a product. I have 2 herniated discs in the L4-S1. And a compression fracture. I am not a surgical candidate and have managed this with a brace. During a recent move my brace got "mislaid" and I have not located it yet. Before moving to a "motorized wheelchair or scooter" I decided to try this brace after weeks of being in pain and reading that this works on herniated and bulging discs and sciatica. When walking I generally feel as if my hips and spine are not connected along with sciatica down both legs. Today when I received this I tried it on. I finally took it off and it has made a world of difference for me. It has provided the stability like my old brace from the physical therapist used to. I was able to do some walking and standing with this brace on without the feeling of "separation" of hips and spine. I was able to do more walking and standing than I have in months (since I lost my old brace). It is comfortable when worn properly. I am so glad I found this brace. It is really affordable compared to the cost for a new brace from the physical therapist. I think it is wonderful that they contacted me before the brace arrived to make sure I understood how to wear it and to let me know if I had any questions or concerns I have a contact person. ... show more

Very good support and does not move around or shift on your body. Comfortable to wear for many hours although at points it does rub a little at the belt line depending on the clothing you are wearing. Purchased for my husband who has severe lower disk degeneration with lots of pain. He found it to be terrific at helping him stand straight and it restricts him just enough to keep him from twisting too far and irritating the disks as they heal. His painful spasms eased up the first day and have stopped completely after 3 days of wear. He tried a different brace I also purchased for a day and immediately went back to this one again. ... show more

I've been riding the Long Island Railroad to and from work since 1980, and it's finally catching up with me by affecting my lower back, causing a painful sciatica problem. It was so bad I had trouble walking when I got off the train, my legs were so stiff and painful from sitting on the train for over an hour, and I had to walk very slowly. I bought this brace and wore it yesterday, just on the train in the a.m. and p.m., resulting in a great reduction in pain. I could walk freely and although I wouldn't say I could run a marathon, I was able to walk at a brisk, normal pace and descend a long staircase at the train station without gritting my teeth in pain. The brace also supported my back while driving my car. I am 5'2' and weigh 165 - I bought the large and it fits fine and felt comfortable. However, I imagine in the really hot humid weather it will be a relief to take it off. The directions tell us to only wear it for 3 hours at a time, anyway, and wash it after 3 or 4 wearings. I am 23 years old and was a bit skeptical about the back braces I have found online - this one included. The package came quickly and was packed nicely. I had injured my back either at my job as an EMT or at my other job in the emergency room of a hospital - probably while lifting patients. My back hurt so badly, so I gave in and purchased this brace. It fits nicely and lies flat under clothes, it adjusts to custom size to different waists, it allows me to still be flexible with moving at work, and it supports my back and relieved my pain. The brace did not completely get rid of my back pain, but the amount of relief I received while wearing the brace made me not want to take it off. The instructions say to remove the brace after 4 hours, but my skin was not sensitive to the soft brace so I wore it during my entire 12 hour work days!!! My back has now healed from the injury, but I'm definitely keeping this brace nearby just in case! The only downside - expect to sweat a lot where the brace is covering your skin if you're working while wearing this! ... show more
