    • Genuine Coleman drain assembly.
I ordered this to replace the drain on our aging Coleman Extreme cooler when the cap strap broke. Didn't want to take the chance of losing the loose old cap. Installation is simple, BUT something strange was happening. I could thread the cap on the drain piece all the way to the gasket when they were in my hand. I like to make sure things really go together easily before using them. When I installed the pieces into the cooler, they would not tighten up enough to seal. Tried three times, making sure it wasn't cross-threaded, which is really impossible the way it's designed. Also made sure the sealing gasket was on the drain piece correctly. Ended up trying it with the OLD drain piece, and VOILA! It tightened up properly. What happened made no sense to me at all, maybe it was a fluke, but since all I needed was the outside cap, it worked out well in the end. A two minute fix took me 20 minutes.....guys already know about how long repairs REALLY end up taking when we start them. ... show more

    • Fit my 40 year old Coleman Polylite 48 cooler! Installation HINT below.
Hint: After removing the old/existing drain valve. Before installing the new drain valve in your cooler, remove the white rubber washer/grommet from provided hard plastic fixture. Install the white grommet from inside of your cooler FIRST. THEN push the white plastic fixture into the cooler from the inside and thru the white grommet you already installed. Now you spin on the external while plastic fixture with the cap onto the protruding threads. You should not have any leaking if you install the valve this way. ... show more
