Good knife. Not heavy to carry all day out in the woods considering it's size. Great sheath. Only complaint is the handle is too small in diameter for such a beefy knife. Otherwise its a work knife versus a wall hanger.

Cold Steel is still having quality comtrol problems, though it has improved. The edge grind on my Marauder is at unequal angles at places. I am not sure CS appreciates the difficuty customers experience trying to fix such errors, sometimes causing more damage than the original flaws. Oddly, enough knives at half the price are often very well done--why can't CS? I don't get it. Putting an edge on a knife is the last step in its manufacture and I would argue probably the most important materials and general craftsmanship, yet at times it seems the least attended to.... A great quality full tang Bowie knife for the asking price. This Knife is a Beast. 👍 THE BLADE The 9in long 4.7mm thick blade came razor sharp with a good grind on it. The AUS8A Steel is not a Super steel, however It's a great working steel that's easy to touch up and will take a beating without being prone to chipping. Plus Cold Steel does an exceptional job on the heat treatment of their blades and this knife is no exception. THE HANDLE In my opinion the ergonomics are fantastic! The handle is kraton (rubber) and has very aggressive texturing. The sub hilt (which is also rubber)is very comfortable and absolutely locks in your grip on the knife. All in all, a very versatile tool that can be used in a multitude of ways whether that be as a camp/woods knife, work knife, or a self defense tool. Great blade sharp out of the box, but what is with the sheath, horrible. The sheath is to tight and dulls the edge.

It came butter knife sharp, and the handle is too small and the blade too light and I'm not a fan of the stone wash as it scuffs easily. What is this good for? It's kind of light to be used as a wood processor and the handle is a is one big hot spot, and there are much better picks for camping/survival in the same price range. This would make a good, edged weapon but the chances of that are small. At first, I thought the stone wash was pretty cool but noticed how easily it scuffed. I decided to remove the finish on the sides of the edge but the machine marks under the finish are really bad, I guess the stone wash hides sub-par machining. Has anyone ever actually tried chopping with this, the handle is one big hot spot. The blade is too light, and the handle is toy like. For what it cost, there are much better options for survival/camping. I have both plain and serrated and have come to the conclusion this is best as a wall hanger to be used only in case of an emergency. Rubber hand guards on a purpose-built fighting knife is a bad joke. ... show more

Amazon vendor removed knife from box and shipped wrapped in a plastic bag. Disappointing. Half the fun of CS is getting the box and associated contents. Fit n finish seem intact. If you’re looking to get a complete boxed product, may want to buy from not Amazon. Im thankful I got a CS Marauder before China steamrolls Taiwan. fjb ... show more

    • Very light weight and QC issues
I bought the knife for use outdoors doing cabin building activities, hunting, camping etc. This is not that knife. Im sure the steel is strong however the blade is super thin and very light. This is not the knife to chop down a sapling. The knife came with a poor sharpening job....it's dull. Unlike other I like the sheath. It could be more rugged but otherwise the sheath is tight and should retain the knife. I used it trying to test it and it shows some damage from chopping so I can not return it....look elsewhere for a real outdoor tool. This is not it. ... show more
