We bought a cappacino machine with a steamer for frothing the milk. Froth was very inconsistent, often varying between different cartons of milk, but never satisfactory. I bought this mechanical frother, and I get very dense, stable foam on a consistent basis. My wife likes the froth to be somewhat warm, and I tried preheating the milk slightly in the microwave -- and it wouldn't froth. I now use it straight from the fridge, froth it, then put the froth in the microwave for about 15 seconds. It's absolutely perfect.
