  • Good solid machine that can cut a variety of materials and be upgraded.
The good Very stiff, relatively large capacity, strong sturdy construction. Knobs on XYZ allow you to easily manually index when the machine is off. Generous Z axis travel and you can configure how high off the bed it is via the rail set screws on the back, which also helps get the Z Gantry to clear the work. great support. Available options via the 1.5kw VFD spindle and Closed Loop steppers allow you to build as need grow. The bad 500w motor is fine for 1/8 cutters, but I did not find it powerful enough or productive enough for larger work. It also didnt have the stiffness needed for harder metals. There are certainly a lot of CNC routers will smaller motors being sold, so this isnt a low power option in general, but either the makita router or 1.5KW anolex spindle upgrade delivers the kind of power for tougher projects. My first one was a dud, and had to contact support - who were very responsive and helpful and got it sorted out. Dont expect any guidance on speeds and feeds and depth of cut from anolex, if it exists, i didnt find it. The other if you are cutting metals, you may find the lower Z limit switch cutout acts like a funnel bringing in metal chips down to the switch circuit board, and eventually causing an alarm code from the z limit. I found that some tape over the gap where the z limit switch sits in the cutout resolved this. ... show more

  • Best Bang for the Buck Currently
I bought one of these for my home shop and I'm very happy with it. While it's not commercial grade, it stands head and shoulders above the the belt and pully style machines that have defined hobby CNC over the last ten years or so. I can push 1/4" endmills to their limit in wood and still have room to spare as far as machine rigidity is concerned. For example, when using adaptive clear on a deep chunk of wood I'll set my stepdown to the full length of the flute (1"/25mm) and my stepover to 1.25mm (20% diameter of the tool) and just let 'er rip. Additionally customer support is fantastic, the stock motor controller burned out and Arlan from the tech support team sent me a new one free of charge. Additionally he's always available to answer questions. I can't tell you how much of a game changer this personal touch is in building consumer confidence for international brands where culture/language barriers can be dicey. My one piece of advice for people buying this machine is this, a "real" spindle is a MUST. The 500w that comes with this thing is comically underpowered for what the stock machine is otherwise capable of. Get a 65mm ER16 spindle from G-Penny or some other brand to unlock the potential of your machine, upgrading steppers is also a good idea from a speed/acceleration is concerned but not critical. TLDR, I strongly recommend for a desktop sized powerhouse. Well done Anolex! ... show more

  • Well Built
The media could not be loaded. I would recommend this machine if you are looking for something compact that can handle aluminum well. The Frame is very well built, no noticible deflection compared to most of the other smaller machines that looks like this. The upgrades rails, ballscrews and larger steppers all work well. It comes with a nice, full color manual in decent english, and they have been responsive to questions to their support email. The stock spindle seems to work okay, even on aluminum, though I also bought the 65mm adapter and upgraded to a palm router for more power. Cable/wire management also is pretty good out of the box. I also like having wireless control built in, it allows me to jog the machine and zero my coordinates using the web browser on my phone. You can tell Anolex is actually trying to build a good product and this is not just a cheap clone. I think the only knocks on it is that it should have come with the MDF spoilboard for the price and it would have been nice if they included some endmills other than the small v-carve bits out of the box. I have added a small low profile vice, the spillboard and am slowing working up a small enclosre as it DOES throw shavings everywhere. :) ... show more

  • 4030 Ultra is a beefy machine
I've had a Grizzly manual mill for a long time. This is my first foray into CNC. I researched every manufacturer I could find, with the shortlist being the Carvera (very cool, with auto tool change, but underpowered and 4x the cost) and ShapeOko 4 (lower end drive system, no laser etch option, 2x the cost). The grbl open source based system is more appealing as I can choose the software I want. Some of the reasons for choosing the 4030 Ultra vs the 3030 Pro include: - 500W spindle- a significant step up from the 3030 Pro. - upgraded drive system. - built in ESP32 with wifi access. I did not want to deal with a usb connection cable connection to the machine. I wanted access from all my computers, including VMs. The Anolex quality to cost ratio is outstanding. All in, with just about every accessory was under $1.5K. I had numerous pre and post purchase questions, all of which were responded to within 1 biz day. The support is outstanding. Packaging is very good, with everything in custom foam. No dents and no missing parts. Plan on around 4 hours for assembling. There are some confusing steps. The gantry assembly is cumbersome. There are 16 independent T-slot nuts that need to be lined up perfectly in order to bolt it together. The Z head assembly instructions are unclear. The spindle mounting plate is upside down relative to the photo in the manual, ignore that, it is correct. Refer to the photos and follow further to my assembly clarifications. ... show more
