It was easy to install, other that the fact that, as others have pointed out, the bolt holes have to be drilled out to fit properly. If you don't want to bother with drilling them, look for one with the three bolt holes that are 11mm or ~ 7/16 inches in diameter.

1. The hole pattern matches the housing, but the hole size is only good enough for the threaded portion of the stud and not the shaft portion. Holes needed to be opened to 7/16" (11mm). 2. The exit for the pull cord/handle is not in the same location as the original, so the pull angle is a little bit different. 3. The pull cord diameter is a little smaller than the original and probably won't last as long. ... show more

    • Defective-doesn't meet safety standards and did not fit even though part said it was a match.

As others have noted. The screw holes to mount are not big enough and required enlarging by drilling to the proper size to fit on mounting studs of the engine. The biggest problem is the lead line is not long enough on the spool. Since the 1980's mower cords were lengthened to start from the handle. This requires almost three feet on leader line to be present. If I mount it properly, it only allows for about two feet of pull which is not adequate to start the mower. So if your comfortable with old school 70s mower set and modifications this is product for you. ... show more
