Description

The Clicgear GPS holder securely mounts your smart phone or GPS unit to your push cart. The mount offsets to the left side to allow the use of an umbrella holder in addition to the GPS holder. Simply place one of the included adhesive tabs to the back of your device and slide it into the holder. The Clicgear GPS Holder includes two stick-on mounting tabs so you can switch between two different devices. Compatible with Clicgear, Rovic, and Sun Mountain push carts.

The reason I bought this phone holder is because it's made by Clicgear and I assumed it was designed specifically for their golf carts. I'm sure I could've found a universal holder that works as well, maybe better in some ways, but after looking at the pictures in the listing I felt confident it would be less likely to interfere with other features of my cart. I did buy an additional phone case because the plastic installation tabs use adhesive tape. If you don't mind having a silver dollar size plastic button on the back of your phone case a second case isn't needed but the instructions do recommended using a case instead of attaching the tab directly to your phone. When clipped into the holder my phone seems quite secure. The holder has rubber cushions that can be adjusted to help keep your phone from spinning. This holder is attached to the cart using the same mount threads on the cart handle as the umbrella holder. The umbrella holder holds the phone holder in place when installed. I would suggest being gentle with this holder as the plastic parts used to clip in and release your phone look like they could be a little flimsy. This device works exactly as I had hoped. I use my cellphone (Nexus 5) with the SkyDroid app for my GPS and to track my rounds. Because of the size of my phone, many GPS holders just wouldn't work for me. This item is designed to work with virtually any cell phone or GPS device on the market today (you might even be able to pull off using a 7" tablet, but I don't really see the point in trying to do something like that.) Included in the packaging is the bracket, along with two clip discs which are attached to the back of the device. Only one disc is needed per device. I suppose the second one is to be used for a second device, or as a replacement if the original breaks. Once attached to your device, the clip disc slides into the bracket and "clicks" into place. I, like many other reviewers who are using cell phones instead of dedicated GPS devices, opted to obtain an inexpensive cell phone case to avoid attaching the clip disc directly to my cellphone, because once the disc is attached, it's staying. I took away one star because I have two minor quibbles. First, the viewing angle is not adjustable. I am 6'2" tall, and the viewing angle is pretty good for me based on the set-up of my cart handle. However, someone taller or shorter than myself, or who has a different cart handle setup, may not find the viewing angle ideal, and it would be nice for them to be able to adjust it. Second, it is not reversible, so it can only be used on the left-of-center side of the cart handle. Again, this works fine for my set-up, but may not be ideal for others. An adjustable viewing angle could also serve to make the device reversible, solving both issues. Not sure if it would be worth the extra cost associated with an improvment like that, but it certainly might be. Despite those minor drawbacks, I am still totally satisfied with my purchase and would absolutely recommend this purchase to anyone considering it. ... show more

My cell phone constantly flips around on this accessory. Was hoping it would stay upright…also, the way it is secured, makes the phone face slightly downward…odd angle. Perhaps its really just for a small gps device…

    • Nice secure holder
Works as described with a slight modification. When the GPS is attached to the holder there is a little play in the connection. The GPS doesn't fit tightly and spins slightly. I know there are different size spacers that can be inserted between the GPS and the holder and are supposed to tighten up the connection but it didn't seem to tighten it up enough in my case. For a temporary solution I wrapped a rubber band around the unit and then attached the GPS and the added friction keeps it secure in one position. I like the unit, it keeps the GPS in clear view for quick easy visual access. Eventually, I think, I'm going to glue some rubber like material to the spacer to tighten up the connection. ... show more

    • Works Fine After a Few Slight Adjustments.
Information said it fit Sun Mountain carts. I have a Sun Mountain Speed-e-cart and it didn’t exactly fit. After a bit of “surgery” on the end that attaches to my cart, it now works reasonably well by removing some of the edges of the attachment base of the holder. For my cart, the thread length is a bit short on the included attaching bolt. Fortunately, I already had one long enough to work. I got it to work with my new Skycaddie sx500.     • Lesson two is I still like it enough that I am buying another one
I had to buy a second one, because the first one snapped......the reason is, you have to be careful not to let the weight of the cart rest on it. i leave it attached to the cart handle, when the clickGear gets folded up, it may come to rest on the Holder, and I snapped it in half. so I guess, lesson one is the Holder is not strong enough to support the weight of the folded cart, so turn it inward, or take it off. Lesson two is I still like it enough that I am buying another one. It solved the problem I've had over the years of either carrying the GPS in my pocket, or leaving it different places and losing it. Works great on my Rovic push cart. I purchased a cheap $10 case to attach the mounting piece to. Some complain about the phone/gps rotating while walking but I don't find that to be a problem since I just put it upright when I need to use it. Also I don't find the shape in the way of where I want to put my hands like some have suggested. Having the mount off to the side allows for simultaneous use of the umbrella holder. ... show more

Attaches easily to a Clicgear cart, and you can still use the umbrella holder. It comes with little stick-on plastic attachments that you place on your phone or GPS so that you can snap it on and remove it after your round. I use an iPhone app for yardages, so I bought an inexpensive case to attach stick the plastic attachment to instead of my phone, and just keep the case with my cart. The plastic insert spins pretty freely once it's clicked in to the receiver. It won't fall out, but I wish it stayed in a semi-fixed position. Small complaint--otherwise I like it. ... show more
