  • Great value, great fishing craft
Style: Roanoke - Blue
I have experience with several small water crafts and nothing compares to these types of pontoons. I purchased this model as a complement to my beloved Classic Accessories(CA) Bozeman (discontinued....ugh!) pontoon boat, which I still use for hike-in fishing trips. I would have purchased another Bozeman if available. The Roanoke is the closest to my Bozeman. It's also relatively lightweight and easy to setup. With a couple of modifications...upgraded oar locks and seat swivel..this boat is a go-to vessel for getting into hard to access fishing spots. I have a sit-on top kayak but nothing compares to how stable this pontoon is. I have taking it down rivers with decent sections of rapids and just float seamlessly over them without worrying about dumping. The wide design allows you to float through practically anything pointed in any direction. I know the boat is not recommended for the rougher water I tend to navigate but I think that's short changing its capabilities. When fishing, you sit up high which is another advantage over the kayak. Windy days will push you around a lake but a small anchor solves that. When paddling, it's faster than it looks. Push or pull the oars, whichever works for you. Although CA has other and larger models for which I haven't tried, I highly recommend this craft and hope this review helps. ... show more

  • it is easy to put together and inflate
Style: Roanoke - Blue
I just got this boat ,The price was right ,it is easy to put together and inflate. I went to walmart and bought a 10.00 hand pump to finish inflating and it fits perfect in the pouches. breaks down quick and it all fits in my corvette. took it out on the river a couple times already handles great. the oars are long and they do move around in the oar locks but a little duct tape will fix that.In cold weather and cold water you do have to add more air every so often, I was on the river for about an hour and a half before I had to add more air, then put in in a different location for a couple more hours no problem.the pontoons are very durable, the bottom of the pontoons have a thick rubber on them ,I think it would be very difficult to puncture them.I like the fact that the pontoons have a separate bladder on the inside that would make patching easier if need be. I also like the fact that the frame Assembly attaches directly to the pontoons not just a belly strap. all in all a great boat for the price. ... show more

  • Pros are limited, cons are many. Will be keeping though. Read full review.
Style: Roanoke - Blue
This pontoon is fast and nimble, however it does have its drawbacks. Having stepped up from a fishcat 4 float tube, there are certain things that I miss about my inferior watercraft. The first would have to be the stripping apron. The apron on this pontoon acts as a mesh barrier around the perimeter of your seat. Unfortunately, this doesn’t provide any functionality. Aside from setting a lure down for a second, there’s not much that you can use it for. On my fishcat the apron came up and over your lap, acting as a much needed table (when you’re restricted to such little space). The next thing that ticks me off about this pontoon is the fact that the storage pockets on each side have absolutely zero structure to them. Unzip the compartment and you will be concerned about losing gear each and every time. It’s extremely flimsy. Your gear will push up against the walls of the unzipped compartment, causing the fabric to peel back and fall down. This presents a huge problem when you’re trying to manage all your gear while restricted to a seat. For those who’re curious, I’ve been float tubing for three years, going on four. The next drawback would be corrosion. I bought this for my local harbor, and after the first use, you can already spot rust. I wash my water crafts throughly with dawn soap and water. It’s impossible to get to all the nooks and crannies. I will be coating the frame with some sort of hydrophobic spray to try and prolong the life. Next complaint would be the fabric deck on the rear of the seat. While in the water, it serves a limited purpose. In my opinion, you need to tie down a crate or something to prevent losing your gear (as it’s just a flat fabric shelf). Truthfully, I leave the oars, footrests, stripping apron and fabric deck at home, launching with simply the pontoons and chair. The pros is that it limits the weight of the craft and streamlines assembly. Despite all the drawbacks, I’ll be keeping It in my arsenal simply due to the speed of the craft. It’s MUCH faster than the fishcat float tubes and it keeps you high and dry out of the water. The thing turns on a dime. Which can be a pro and a con.... depending on what you’re trying to do. In high winds, it’s constant work trying to keep the darn thing straight. I will also mention, that if you plan on towing any sort of floating live wells, the drag is enough to TAKE CONTROL of your water craft. It’s INCREDIBLY difficult to tow my live well (that rests INSIDE the water). I’ve trying everything to make it work, however for now, I’ve given up. May be looking to make a live well tank for the back fabric deck, however concerned about accessibility while in the water. Tips: Keep all of your connector pins (d rings) connected to each other to prevent loss Inflate your pontoons in cooler temperature (morning or night). Air expands and contracts depending on temperature. If you inflate the pontoons while it’s hot, and then launch the craft into cold water, the air in the pontoons will contract, causing it to seemingly deflate. If you inflate your pontoon in the morning and pressure increases while in the sun, make sure to bleed the Boston valve to prevent over inflation / leaks / holes. This can be done on the water as it gets hotter throughout the day. TAP THE VALVE, don’t twist it. You will deflate the whole pontoon. ABSOLUTELY MUST buy/ make rod leashes. I lost a $175 Penn combo my first bite on this thing. If you want something fast and nimble, this is for you. If you’re looking for a lot of storage and ability to customize, I would recommend you to keep looking. Please keep in mind, I bought this on sale for $199. If I paid full price I would be highly dissatisfied. For the price I got it for, it works... At any rate, I hope all this info allows you to make an informed decision. ... show more

  • great pontoon.
assembly instructions could have been more detailed. Great pontoon. easy to move around on water. pontoon only weighs 43lbs when assembled and inflated. When I purchased it was a great price at under $300 . The oar lock stops would slide up and oar could slip out of oar locks. Twenty wraps of electrical tape with wraps on top of previous wrap will prevent the oar from slipping out of oar lock and has held up for over a year's worth of moderate use. ... show more

Style: Roanoke - Blue
received it from amazon on time and in great shape assembly took about an hr. for the first put together good directions but not the best after a few mistakes it was done. inflating the pontoons took 15 min. each using a foot pump make sure you check which is right and which is left pontoon the r and l are in the zippered compartments assembly is tool free but a rubber mallet. Some wax help get the parts fitted the first time. The great news is its Lite and easily fits on the roof of a elantra with 2 tie downs held firm for the 10 mile trip to the lake. after taking it apart the reassembly only took 30 min. total with refilling the pontoons (only took them a bit less than half when I took it apart. over all very happy very steady in the water. modifications I"m making is adding a travel wheel to the bottom very light weight and easy to install and remove for those out of the way lakes in the Adirondacks one more hint stadium seat cushions fit perfect on the molded seat making the day a bit more comfortable ... show more

Style: Roanoke - Blue
No tools required! Seems very well made and a cinch to assembly. Very happy so far but it's still too cold here to take it out to the lake. I choose this pontoon as it's only 43 pounds and I need to get it there by myself.
