This is a boat for those anglers that don't want to store a rigid boat and its trailer and deal with that trouble. I bought this with my cousin to share for fishing. Here are some details I missed in other reviews: - We have 4h on it so far and two outings - The hull is surprisingly rigid when properly inflated at 14.5PSI - On a nice day, smooth water, the boat will reach about 15-16mph with a 9.9hp outboard motor with two people on board and their gear including the tank, good enough for most lakes, it does plane at 15mph, but also uses gas much faster at max RPM, that's the nature of the engine used ("24 Merc, 4 stroke, 9.9hp, 15" shaft) - Moderate fuel consumption at 3/4 throttle, about 11-12mph with same load - Including the break in procedures (6 min full throttle), we used about 2/3 of the 3.1 gal tank - Gets blown by wind, if don't want to invest in expensive troller, anchor good enough to hold in place - Enough room at the bow for a trolling motor mount, pedal and battery - At high speeds over waves, the boat will slightly twist and bend (it's made of rubber, right?), but it will hold steady - It does quite nice forward turns and it handles well in reverse - Stops pretty quickly when throttle is shut - Do not try stunts with it, it is not made for such - Lateral wake waves from larger power boats will rock it quite a bit, best to turn it into waves - There's no remedy for those pesky power boaters that need 250hp with a throttle to feel important in life, so seek a fishing only lake - Seats are firm enough to fish seated, - When not moving fast, one can fish in standing - Moving around the boat takes some practice, but much easier than on a large surf board - Has rubber "rails" to allow touching, rubbing against the dock - Stepping on the boat from the dock back and forth is not difficult, takes some practice - May take some wet feet when launching, best bow first, then install the motor in raised position - Hull material seems strong enough to now worry about hooks and blades occasionally laying or falling around, but it's better to keep track of all sharps at all time - It is somewhat heavy to handle, two people will have to put in some muscle to wrestle it, alone is possible, but quite a piece of work - It takes time to prepare, load, unload, launch, take out, load, unload - 20-30 minutes using a 12V pump to inflate all 4 chambers, especially the main chamber takes quite a while - 30 minutes to launch, install engine, seats, luggage, registration plates... - Look away when deflating the chambers and pressing the valve, the escaping air can cause injuries to eyes - Remove transom before! deflating - We chose to install racks on my Tacoma (cab and bed), we now carry it fully inflated top side up, bow first, when strapped properly, 65-70 mph no issue, some noise and some resonance at certain speed, to be avoided - Can be fully carried by any Tacoma in deflated form - Relatively easy to wrap and pack, but not easy to wrap to be put in back in the box - Requires about 30sqf for storage, including motor - The heavy duty wheels sold by Sea Eagle for it are good, but you will have to replace the original eye bolts, with 3/8x6" ones (some drilling) to prevent twisting 90 deg, this is important - All in all for the price, a very practical solution to not needing a trailer and space to store I hope this holds over time, will update if anything comes up. Pros: I have owned this boat for about a year now and I have put this thing through its paces.. I have taken up to 4 ppl total (ppl were about 180lbs a head including myself) while fully loaded with motor and gear (about 300 lbs) and managed to do 8mph with some water splashing into the boat from minor chop (6ph gas 4strk yamaha) I have ran the boat through thick brush when retrieving lures with full confidence it will not puncture. Also never worried about fishing lures puncturing when I side cast or skip lures .. (Very minor scuffing is noticed but this boat is as thick as a rugged gardening hose which you could easily run over with a car) Only con: this boat will get blown around by even the slightest bit of wind and is incredibly frustrating as a bass fisher man (it is never convenient to drop anchor every 5 ft from spot to spot while fishing the bank when repositioning) ●I built my own bow mount trolling motor mount/bracket since I now run a minn kota terrova bow mount with spot lock which 100% solved problems with the wind I highly recommend this boat but spot lock trolling motor is an absolute must once you realize the wind issues (which many other inflatables in the market suffer from) ... show more
