Description

The BSA470 BRIS inflatable boat are made by 2000 Denier 1.2mm PVC fabric with aluminum floor board and marine plywood transom. It is a much more heavy-duty PVC fabric than 1100 Denier 0.9mm PVC boats. We also have added double layers of fabric at the bottom of the tubes. This allows 2.4mm of lower tube protection from sharp rocks and abrasive sands. This model is designed for daily pleasure or professional use. I have held off reviewing this boat until I had a chance to use it. The Good: My first impression was that the boat is pretty good quality. There are lots of "D" rings to lash things to which is nice. The wrap-around rope is very nice. The boat is very stable and has won the approval of several local fishermen who know a great deal about boats. I was worried how the boat would handle a 185 lb engine, Fuel tank, and battery, plus a big guy in the back. It does very well. One wants a good bit of weight in the front when alone, and the D rings hold the milk crate that I fill with rocks, for that purpose. My wife and I were able to drag it back into the water, with engine and gear, several feet through the sand, after getting left high and dry by the tide. It's a good bush rig. The boat rides well and is stable, and handled well with 4 good size people. The Bad: The rear seat is too far back and interferes with the tiller handle on tight left turns, I just edge off the seat and then there's room. The seat can and sometimes does interfere with the tiller handle when I raise and lower the engine also. The middle seat/oar lock combination is better suited for rowing backwards than forwards. There just isn't any seat that's located correctly for rowing, in relationship to the oarlocks. It's doable in an emergency and I didn't get this boat to row it. The other main problem I have is that I have cavitation/aeration problems. I can't get the boat up on plane because at about 1/3 throttle or more, I lose propulsion and the engine revs, I have to slow back down. I haven't identified the problem yet, but I'd say it's getting the right motor setup for the boat, not a boat problem. There were only 2 reviews to read before I purchased the boat, one was good and the other was gibberish. Maybe I should only give it 4 stars but I'm just too darned happy with it. I'll update the review as I use it more, so far I have only 2 days experience with it in the Aleutians. Update: 3 years later I've had a chance to play with it more. I figured out the planing problem in Kodiak, it was a combination of too little air pressure and uneven loading. With my son in the middle we got it going a gps calculated 22 MPH with a 25 HP Yamaha 4 stroke. We probably could have gone faster but it was choppy and it was easy to oversteer, but it was great at almost full throttle. It also planes nearly level, where most metal boats raise up in the front. The coating on the plywood front portion of the floor is peeling and I need to do something about that, I did not do a good enough job keeping it dry when not boating. ... show more

Customer service is amazing! Boat is really heavy duty, keyword heavy! That being said, quality is top notch and boat does amazing in big/medium California lakes with Trolling motor and small 6hp outboard. Will definitely be doing business with seller in the near future.

This black sleek Bris, its more than i expected, 15' 4" looks bigger in person, nice aluminum floor & all the D rings, i am putting a 40hp short i think it will do fine, also putting a rubber gym mat on top of floor, will make for a quiet ride, great product.

Just as described seems to be well made and sturdy needed a little more detailed assembly instructions. Got it assembled and mounted 30 hp Suzuki on it . Haven't had it in the water yet hopefully this weekend weather permitting.Had in the ocean several times now rock fishing it has held up well fishes 4 men and all our gear just fine .Great boat for the price got a trailer for mine so I wouldn't have to disassemble it cause it's not easy.Had a problem with the seats coming off the holders .Tried turning them over and sliding them back on and the haven't come off again. I've had the boat over 2 years kept it in a garage partially inflated , used it 5 times and the seams are coming apart . Keep patching them and it starts leaking somewhere else . Emailed seller let's see if they stand behind it. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Plenty of good here, lets start there. For the price, this is a lot of boat. $2089 is what I paid including shipping. Compared to a Zodiac futura MK3, (I own one I bought in 2018) which is the same size boat, it is a smoking deal, the zodiac is over $7000 retail (in 2018) and the only difference is the zodiac has the speed tubes under, which help stability and getting on plane faster, the issue with those is that they always leak and are impossible to repair, and impossible to replace too, I have had a set on backorder for over a year now. The zodiac doesn't come with seats, this came with 3. I put a yamaha 25hp 4 stroke on this and it seems to be enough engine, I ran it for the first time today and hit 20 knots WFO (23mph) on the ocean with a bit of wind chop. I burned 4 gallons going about 20 miles running between 13 and 20kt. The build quality on the tubes and hull look great, the valves hold air and the caps are tethered and positive locking closed, it came with a foot pump and oars and oarlocks and a strap to hold down the fuel tank. The check valve drain plug is c-rap, it would take an hour to drain a few inches of water from this boat by running it, I tried. It just doesn't flow enough. Speaking of water in the boat, it sprays up from the transom at higher speeds and splashes in. Have a hand held bilge pump, the grey plunger style, you will need it. I had 3 inches deep water in after 2 hrs of running. You will need some counterweight in the bow if you are by yourself, and even more so if you get water in the boat and try to get up on step, if you are running into the wind, you could flip the bow back over your head, I kid you not. The boat is very bow light. The side bolsters that roll into place to hold the floor boards flat have plastic end caps that come off easily, glue (or rivet) them in place prior to assembly, you will thank me. Also, there are reinforced areas on the tubes where the ends of the side bolsters are supposed to set, look for those spots, the assembly directions don't say anything about them, but take a look. Lay the floor pieces out on flat ground and see how they all fit together and fit them with the side bolsters prior to stuffing them in the boat, again, you will thank me. The directions for assembly leave out a lot. There is a topsides and bottom to the floor panels, make sure they are all oriented the same way. When you first assemble the boat, do it on a flat concrete or pavement surface. fill up all the tubes about a third full (nothing in the keel but make sure it's straight and flat. The stem on the valves turn counterclockwise to hold air, clockwise or push in to deflate. Once the tubes are even and 1/3 full, set in the bow floor plates, then the far aft floor (has a half moon shape cutout for the drain access) then the next aft floor, and on the last two plates, they will accordian up in a Vee, double check they are all centered left and right, then pop down the top of the Vee. Then put the side bolsters in by rotating them in place, do all one side, then the other THEN, inflate the rest of the boat and finally the keel last, it sort of locks everything in place. KEEP IT INFLATED tight! The transom engine mount plates are aluminum, when you drill holes for your engine, use a drop cloth to catch the aluminum shavings in the inside so they don't fall into the bilge and cut tiny holes in your new boat. " ) The floor and side bolsters are not as heavy duty as the zodiac parts, and I noticed quite a bit of flexing in the floor and front bow floor plates running in choppy water, I may have to find a way to reinforce the bow plates so they don't pop up. The seat boards seem pretty nice, I only put in the front one for now and my friend rode up there today and she like sitting there as opposed to sitting on the tubes. I sat on the tube while operating the boat. The rope "safety" line that runs around the top of the tubes needs replacing, it's poly and very rough on hands, like that cheap yellow poly rope everyone uses but hates. I will put some spectra on in place of that stuff, it's easier on your hands for hanging on while running. Wear your PFD and use a lanyard on the engine shut off please, enjoy your boat! This boat is a lot bigger than the pics online show. Very roomy and tough. Just put transom wheels on it and I can't wait to hit the water in few weeks!
