Sensitivity of the motion detector isn't very good.....you need to get pretty close to them to have them turn on

Like others that I've had over the past couple of years, I find that these too do a better job if they're not mounted too high up. They're bright enough, but the higher you go, the less they seem to illuminate. I keep these mounted no more than 8-10 feet up on each side of the back deck railing. It's nice that it has a solar panel with a long cable, since I'm using these in the backyard and light placement is not ideal for daylight sun (but I was able to route one panel to one side of the house, route the other panel to the other side of the house, each get about 1/2 of daylight sun on them). Motion detection is OK, sometimes I have to get it "just right" for them to activate. I've had others with better detection, but even though these aren't quite as good in this regard, they're not egregious. Overall, 4 stars is deserved -- they're inexpensive enough to where I didn't expect miracles. ... show more
