  • Easy setup for a smooth upgrade
Style: USB3.0 2x2 HDMI
I've had a Depzol KVM since 2021, and it's worked well (2 Port KVM Switch HDMI Dual Monitor 4K 60Hz, DEPZOL KVM Switch for 2 Computers 2 Monitors with USB 2.0 HUB and Cables 922HUA-2). However, there were two challenges: the USB ports only supported 2.0, and the cables split out the input/output audio jacks in a way I found annoying. I upgraded to this device (CKL 2 Port USB 3.0 KVM Switch Dual Monitor HDMI 4K 60Hz, Keyboard Video Mouse Peripherals Switcher for 2 Computers 2 Monitors with Audio 922HUA-3) today. It only took me minutes to switch over to the new KVM. Since it supports USB 3.0, there was no need for separate audio hookups. Everything works, including the sharing of a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 for audio inputs. It also supported my Panasonic Lumix G9 as a webcam using the Elgato Camlink 4K adapater, which wasn't happening before with the old hub. Using USB 2.0, I had a lot of latency (which is to be expected; I'm surprised it worked at all honestly). Now I can use ONE webcam for both devices. If you buy either device, it is incredibly important to note that you will likely need HDMI/USB adapters to support two monitors. From the product description: "This Dual Monitor KVM Switch requires 2 HDMI input for each computer and 2 HDMI output for monitors. However, most computers especially laptops do not have dual HDMI output, thus reliable adapters will be needed for non-HDMI outputs like VGA, DVI, USB C, DisplayPort. Please be aware of this before order!" You will need two adapters - one per computer. Plus, it can really be a headache to get those adapters to work. That isn't the fault of the KVM; those adapters are very finnicky. I purchased this one: "WAVLINK USB 3.0 to HDMI Universal Video Graphics Adapter with Audio Port". You will need to absolutely scrutinize the specifications to meet your needs: It is supported on your device/OS? Does it support the monitors you use? Do you have enough free USB ports? Do you need to install a driver for it to work? etc. No matter what, it will require a lot of patience. A lot. It will be the hardest step, guaranteed. There's a power adapter that comes with the device, but I don't use it. I also don't use the USB ports intended for keyboard and mouse. Why? I'm using Logitech Bluetooth devices that have their own ability to connect to multiple devices. Maybe it would save me the step of manually switching over the keyboard/mouse if a used a wireless fob instead of Bluetooth, but I'm fine the way it is. ... show more

  • Great job at a decent price
Style: USB3.0 4x2 HDMI
I have zero complaints thus far. I already own a CKL 2x2 USB 2.0 KVM so I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought this model to accommodate a new Macbook Pro. The previous USB 2.0 KVM I had was okay but I had a slew of issues with USB peripherals, particularly my webcam. The USB 2.0 model only has three USB ports, so I had to use a hub to connect my headset and webcam. This tended to overload the port and constantly cause disconnections. This is no longer an issue with the USB 3.0 model, which has four USB ports. I currently only have three computers hooked up: 1. Desktop (one HDMI and one HDMI to Displayport) 2. Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga X1 with Thunderbolt 3 dock (one HDMI and one HDMI to Displayport) 3. Macbook Pro 2018 with iVANKY 12 in 2 dock (two HDMIs) The audio was initially finicky, but I figured it out. You just need to make sure you have a monitor that can output audio, make sure this monitor is Monitor A, and set your computer's audio to this monitor. No problems after that. I don't use hotkeys as I find the wired remote easier to use for my set up. I took one star off because every now and then, when I switch to the Macbook, I get static on one monitor. I have to unplug the Mac dock and plug it back in. I can't tell if this is an issue with the dock or the switch but it never happened with the dock before. ... show more

  • Big upgrade in a small package
Style: USB3.0 2x2 DisplayPort
I purchased the dual DisplayPort 1.4 version. This was to upgrade a much older Startech Dual DisplayPort KVM from 2015 (which that model originally released in 2011 and was the only one of it's kind for many years). The first thing that surprised me was by how tiny this new KVM is. It's easily half the size of my older one. This was good and bad; good because it takes up less space on my desk, but bad because the connections in the back are a little more cramped and harder to hook up. I also appreciated that it came with all of the needed cables. My older KVM did not come with any cables, and was more expensive when I bought it. The included cables are OK-quality; definitely not super high-end but plenty decent to do the job. The main reason for my getting this was its support of DisplayPort 1.4. The old KVM I had only went up to DisplayPort 1.1; while that's been totally fine up until this point, I recently purchased a 1440p monitor which supports HDR, but I couldn't utilize it because DisplayPort only has enough bandwidth for HDR in version 1.4. I was excited to hook this up and finaly enjoy the HDR goodness, but I completely overlooked that my PC's video card only has DisplayPort 1.2 ports, so the point is moot until I can get around to upgrading that. At least there's future potential for upgrades. Everything about this KVM is an improvement over the older startech one. The displays switch faster, the keyboard/mouse/accessory/audio ports are on the front for easier access, and it feels (although I have no scientific way to back this up) that I'm getting faster response from the keyboard and mouse; probably just a though placebo effect though. Also, a very common recurring problem with the older KVM was certain keys would stop responding randomly; I would be typing away and suddenly I couldn't type any "c's" or "l's". I would usually have to toggle between the displays a bunch of times before the keyboard would re-register properly. I haven't had a single occurrence of that issue with this newer KVM, so ya! for progress. Overall I'm very happy with this device. It offers all the same features and benefits of my older KVM, but in a smaller package and based on much newer technology, and that much better for it. ... show more
