  • Excellent First Impression
This chair just arrived today, so I am going to give you some first impressions and address some of the things I have read in other reviews. First, I think it looks much better in person. I thought it looked cheap in the pictures, but that is not the impression I got in person. I think maybe it is because it looks so shiny in the pics. I will say this chair is definitely on the firm side, but that is very much what I am looking for in a chair, so I am happy with that. Do not get this chair if you are looking for a plush recliner. This is definitely not a small chair as some have described. I have owned many recliners that are smaller. I would say it is as large as just about any standard recliner I have owned, but obviously not as large as the oversized ones I have owned. We live in a small urban apartment right now, and this is just about the perfect balance of size and comfort, at least for me. I am a big guy. I am about 6’ tall and wear a size 56 jacket because of my broad shoulders. I am perfectly comfortable in this chair, and it is, in fact, one of the more comfortable I have owned. I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of comfort. With that said, it would not be for someone much taller or much shorter. The seat is high, so my wife’s feet would not touch the ground, and someone taller than about 6’3” might find the back too short. It is wide enough for my small dogs to lay next to me if I move all the way over. I have owned several chairs that I could feel supports or something else through the cushions. So far, that is not the case. Some have also said that the footrest was hard to lock back into the upright position. I have owned several brand name chairs that used this type of mechanism, and mine, at least, is probably the easiest I have experienced. I can easily lock it in while sitting down. It also lays almost completely flat for sleeping, and is very comfortable to lay back in. So, my first impression is that this is an excellent value for the money. My initial impression is very good. I tried to answer a lot of the questions I had when I was making the decision to buy this chair. I will come back and report any problems I have. *Update*. Nothing to update. Still love the chair! 6/16 ... show more

  • Not leather but still nice
The description said this recliner was "PU leather". My understanding was that that is another term used to describe split leather, which is a cheaper leather that is often used in some furniture, belts, etc. This material is most definitely not split leather. It is 100 percent man made material. I had read enough reviews about this chair that I figured it wasn't split leather but i decided i was fine with the man made fabric anyway. Overall I'm quite pleased with the purchase. It is fairly comfortable and it looks nice. I would agree with other reviews that said it doesn't have great lumbar support, though I still find it comfortable. It glides very nicely too. I shopped at furniture stores prior to this purchase and will say I got a LOT more for my money with this chair than I would've got from a local retailer. Overall Im very happy with the purchase. I would strongly recommend it. ... show more

  • Gigantic and luxurious
Just got it today, but was so happy I had to write a review right away. This is just my first impressions, obviously I can't assess long term reliability. I ordered a large and expensive (for me, the price of this chair is fairly expensive, at least) chair online which is something I never thought I'd do and something I was a bit nervous about -- the risk absolutely paid off. It was *very* easy to assemble (the instructions trick you into thinking it'll be tricky by saying you'll need two people and 30 minutes -- I did it by myself in 3 minutes) and it's *so* comfortable. It's soft but not extremely soft so it still provides support. It's also massive. I'm 6'2", 215 lb and even for me it feels spacious, with ample room to my sides -- If anything it's almost too big. There's so much space to the side, even for my considerably sized bottom, that I expect almost anyone could sit in this comfortably. Thoughts on assembly -- I said it was easy and fast to do by myself, which it was, but I'm also a big strong dude. If you're on the small side you might need help maneuvering the pieces into place. Assembling it basically consists of putting two wings onto the backrest and then putting the backrest onto the bottom part. It's very simple, but the pieces might be heavy for you if you're small. ... show more

  • Not great
Easy to put together , I got this chair for knee replacement recovery. Not going well . The bottom part you have to use two hands to get it to close back up . To sit all the way back it doesn’t even stay . You have to use your weight to hold it leaning back . Not easy use . Very frustrating because I absolutely need it but I need another person to hold the bottom down while get up . ... show more

  • Very stiff and uncomfortable
Assembly was simple the chair looks great. It has a very good body fit. However this is a very stiff and uncomfortable chair. The cushion is all wrong. Maybe if you can suffer through a few months of discomfort you will be able to break it in. Because it’s so affordable it might be worth it for those who like a challenge. ... show more

  • Excellent Value - Easy Assembly
This chair provides excellent value for the price. It is covered in real leather - not bonded leather. If you don't know the difference, do an internet search before shopping. This chair is not soft. It is firm and provides good lumbar support, which is what I prefer. Assembly was easy. There are four pieces: the bottom with sides, the back, and two side pads which attach to the back. No tools are required. All pieces slide and lock into place using metal fittings. The package was delivered at the bottom of my front porch stairs. Although I am in my 70's, I had no difficulty rolling the package up the stairs (end over end) and into my town home by myself. I was also able to unpack and assemble the chair without help. The side pads are first attached to the back, and then the back is attached to the bottom. During assembly I did find it useful to tip the bottom forward so that it rested on its front side. This position allowed me to have a better view to line up the fittings of the two large pieces (bottom and back) and lock them into place. ... show more
