My Rheem 42,000 water softener is mounted outside my home so during some dayparts it's subject to strong (Phoenix area) sunlight. Until buying this cover I've kept the softener sheltered using large trash bags that required changing about once a month. This cover looks like it could last years. 1. It fits a large salt type softener like a glove. Velcro fasteners along with straps help the cover form fit the softener and hold it in place if high winds try to tear it off. 2. A hidden zipper gives the user easy access to the softener lid for refreshing the salt supply or making changes on the control panel. There's no need to unstrap or de-velcro the entire cover just for normal maintenance. The zipper is covered by a flap to protect it from weather and in my area, heat. Bottom line, if your salt type single tank water softener is outdoors, this cover is a must have to help protect the electronics and other mechanisms of the softener. ... show more

I expected this to be made of the same thick material that they use for patio heaters. This feels like one of those plastic table clothes with fuzz on the back side. This does not have fuzz but the material feels thin and cheap. We live in Phoenix,AZ and I’m hoping this won’t melt and be destroyed in 3 months given they charged $50 for it. This is definitely NOT worth $50! Not sure if we are keeping this yet or not. If it does not melt in the next 3 weeks maybe we keep it.
