  • REAR BAR DESIGNED TOO LOW TO GROUND. DRAGS ALONG LAWN. CAN'T USE
DON'T BUY. THE REAR BAR IS DESIGNED TOO LOW TO THE GROUND. REAR BAR DRAGS ALONG LAWN, DIGS IN LAWN AND DOES'T ADVANCE FORWARD. USELESS. WASTED MY MONEY. CONTACTED CHAPIN INTERNATIONAL Inc. THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THE DEFECTIVELY DESIGNED REAR STAND. THEY HAVE NO FIX SOLUTION AND WOULD NOT REFUND ME. THEY REFUSE TO TAKE THIS PRODUCT OFF THE MARKET. DON'T BUY CHAPIN INTERNATIONAL Inc. PRODUCTS THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND WHAT THEY MANUFACTURE. ... show more

  • Poor design with height of rear foot. Hard to push on uphill grades with a 40 lb. load!
This product is difficult to use on uphill grades. The wheels are not suited to support a 40 lb. load. Poor design of release door, it will not close when stopped, a lot of waste on the ground. I would not recommend this product since I have bought 2 units and both have gear issues on the axles. Must be plastic and they are not durable. This product is NOT COMMERCIAL Grade. ... show more

  • Hard to use
Bought it because it had a deflector which is what I needed for my pool. Normal spread is 5-6 feet per side and deflector maybe reduces its side by 1 foot. No help with the pool. The unit is also front heavy when loaded with only 40 lbs of product . I put one bag in (40 lbs) and it was hard to walk on flat ground. I have a small hill in my back yard and coming up that hill I almost dumped a full load of fertilizer on the grass. Unusable deflector and a workout with only 40 lbs. can’t imagine how hard it would have been with 80lbs. I returned it Don’t buy it. ... show more

  • What used to be a quality brand has gone away.
It’s a terrible design.. The gears in the axle hub have been noisy since day 1. I’ve used it for the 3rd time since I’ve purchased it and it’s been nothing but a head ache. The stand behind the wheel is too long and get caught in the grass as you fertilize. If you tilt the spreader forward a little to far to push it it wants to tip over. Quality is junk., Performance is horrendous . I would never recommend this to anyone. ... show more

  • Looks great. Using it is another thing …
As other reviews mentioned, the construction has tubing that is used to stand the unit up, unfortunately it is so low that it catches on almost anything and prevents you from pushing the unit up even the slightest grade. It throws a massive amount of product very broadly. There are no specific recommendations on spacing in the manual. The adjustment knob seems cheaply made. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me. ... show more

  • Not quality at all
Spreader bar too low!! We actually had to cut it off. You couldn’t push it on any terrain that wasn’t hard ground… so forget spreading oats in tilled soil! We should have read the reviews ☹️ Spreader parts plastic and couldn’t even spread oats evenly. Cheap parts. The wheels were nice but the quality behind the rest of the item were so poor we couldn’t even use it. Super sad we can’t return it because we had to cut off the bar. Money down the drain. ... show more

  • The setting dial on this spreader is horrible!!!
The overall spreader seams well built. The setting dial is very cheap and made of plastic and is not accurate by no means! Very expensive spreader but the cheapness of the main adjustment makes it so not worth the price they have on this model! Very disappointed!
