Description

Stop wasting water, chemical concentrate, and your time with Mixes on Exit™, Chapin’s clean tank spraying system. We’ve taken the same innovative technology of our ATV sprayers and turned it into an easy-to-carry, 4-gallon backpack sprayer. The water tank is completely separate from the concentrate tank, and it only mixes when you're applying your chemical. It's designed around two tanks – a 4-gallon water tank and a 0.3125-gallon concentrate tank. Our 63950 M.O.E. backpack sprayer comes with two chemical tanks so you can use one and keep one handy when you need to switch. Fill your water tank, fill your chemical tank, snap the chemical tank into place, then set the dial to accurately dispense your concentrate. Along with the separate chemical tanks, additional features include padded backpack straps with lumbar support, cushion-grip shut-off with lock-on/off feature, and three nozzles to easily swap out based on your application. Additional concentrate tanks are available and sold separately. You can swap your chemicals out on the fly when you’re on the job. Made in the USA with global materials and backed by Chapin’s 2-year limited warranty.

  • Are you strong enough to carry 4 gallons on your back?
. should have had a picture of the sprayer in use. i was overwhelmed with size of the tank. I am 5'3' Good product We decided to not send back sprayer. Maybe I should buy some fruit trees to spray. I liked the mixing outside of the tank. That was the feature that sold me. Sorry fo the fuss. I could send you a picture of my devastated weeds. Keep up the good work. ... show more

  • Good concept but not perfect
The idea of swapping concentrate tanks is great. The executions wasn’t perfect though. You need to dilute most lawncare chemicals to get this to work. If the chemical has a higher viscosity than water it won’t flow at the right Oz per gallon you selected on the dial. The chemical is actually “pulled” out by water existing the wand. Higher viscosity products are harder to pull and the result is often zero chemical being mixed at anything below setting 5. If you just eyeball the fluid and mix with water to dilute a bit it will work just fine…except you have to know the ratio to set the right number on the dial. I handled this issue by making the ratio standardized and writing it on the tank. EX: “X Oz of chemical Y” (alway fill to the top with water) “setting X”on the sprayer dial. That way I don’t have to think about it every concentrate tank refill. If you plan to standardize what chemicals you put in the tank each time and never deviate then I suggest writing it down on the tank and always filling it to the top with water. If you plan on switching up which chemical you put in the tank I do not think this is the right sprayer for you. Without checking the flow rate each time you simply won’t be happy with the consistency of the Oz per gallon. ... show more

  • Great idea that needs to be taken to the next level
I manage a large natural conservation area (135 acs.) that I have to walk to backpack spray out the nonnative invasive plants. In the past I've had to walk the property twice: once to spray broadleaved weeds and again to spray grass weeds. This sprayer enables me to cover the ground once and done. I set up the prayer with the concentrate I expect to use most often (usually broadleaf-specific herbicide), and carry the alternate concentrate in a military surplus hydration pack that I attach to a molle chest harness. So far, so good. It is, however, a royal pain 'd azz to have to undo the sprayer, change the concentrate, re-mount the sprayer, and clear the lines jut to spray the occasional grass weed clump, and the reverse the whole process to carry on with the broadleaf spraying. I would encourage Chapin to consider a design that mounts two concentrate cannisters and regulators, and add a valve near the wand to enable changing chemicals on the fly without having to dismount/re-mount. My only other comment is that the harness is not comfortable compared to the Solo deluxe backpack sprayer harness. ... show more

  • Fantastic
OK, my use: between home and work I maintain multiple acres of land, and have much use for sprayers, mostly for weed control, but any number of uses. I've had many over the years, but this is my first back pack style. Wow. It's great. I should have bought this years ago. The large capacity is extremely helpful for obvious reasons. I will warn you it's a real workout when full. Very heavy. I didn't expect to ache the next day, but I did. Here's what impresses me about this one: 1. Quality material. There's a lot of plastic, as there should be, and all of the plastic feels really durable and strong. There's metal in all of the appropriate places (pump handle, base, etc). That also feels right. The only "assembly was bolting the handle on with the included bolts. Simple, and gave me the immediate feel that this is so much better than the usual ones I use. 2. Design. This is a lot of liquid to carry, and it will be heavy. If you do not position the straps right you will not be a happy sprayer. Read the instructions (unlike me). The design is good, but you need to do it right. The "mix on exit" thing is great. The pump rations the right amount of water and concentrate, so you're never mixing it. Saves time and effort - plus one less step that could splash in your eye. I love that it comes with two containers for the concentrate. 3. Use. When fully pumped, it works incredibly well. The liquid dispenses practically like a faucet. Once dialed in to the way you like it, it's amazing. I had a little leak problem at first, but it was inconsistent so I'm thinking it was part of getting it set up initially. Still, I'm careful about walking on the lawn with any weed killer in it since it dripped a little at first. Overall, I'm really pleased. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Do not buy
First use... leaked from main tank. Dial for mixing moved on its own. Never knew what the mix ratio was. The actual small tanks never added the chemical to the water... Spraying Imidicloprid all day and only a fraction of the chemical was used. Returning for a refund and will need to spend an entire day retreating my clients. Extremely unhappy. ... show more

  • Works really well!!!
Got this Chapin sprayer for my husband and he is definitely satisfied. He says it was easy to assemble and use, and the sprayer is very nice. The wand is high quality and comfortable to hold. The hose is 42 inches long and reaches far. It includes 2 concentration tanks and three different nozzles. It is pretty comfortable to carry on your back with the padded straps, but it is heavy if you fill it all the way up. It comes with viton seals which is chemical resistant seals. As long as you keep the sprayer and chemical tank cleaned out, this sprayer will last for awhile. My husband has used it on jobs to clean and prep buildings before painting them. He sprays a cleaning solution with the water. He says it works really well and got the job done. He likes this sprayer much more than his other sprayer. He hasn't used it to spray weed killer yet in our yard, but plans to do so soon. Overall very satisfied and would recommend it. ... show more
