  • Unboxed and spaying within 15 minutes!
Style: Backpack Sprayer W/Adjustable and Fan No...
Not only was it very easy to assemble, it came with all the tools and it was a very straightforward setup. I had unboxed it, clipped on the bottoms of the straps, screwed on the nozzle, had it filled and ready to go within about 15 minutes. The pump arm is situated to where you can either pump from the handle or further up on the arm depending on what’s more comfortable. The pump lever can be bolted on either side depending on which arm you prefer to use. Also, remember to store it inside or away from the sun. Overtime, granted it takes quite a while, as with most consumer plastic containers, UV will eventually break down the plastic which is normally not a big deal and we don’t notice…..unless, it is a vessel that is going to be put under a lot of positive pressure, in which case, One may find a whole lot of peppermint oil water and white vinegar exploding all over the kitchen floor (so fun)…. Anyway, it happened in the morning and Amazon delivered this gem by the afternoon and it worked perfectly. ... show more

  • Great quality sprayer
Style: Backpack Sprayer W/Adjustable and Fan No...
I got this because I have some pests under my 2nd floor gutters and this can spray that high. I wish I had gotten this soon because it's made my life a lot easier. Once you read the instructions and adjust the straps to fit you it's easy to use.

  • Crap for customer service, parts and manufacturer malfunction...
Style: Backpack Sprayer W/Adjustable and Fan No...
I have had at least 7 or more backpack sprayers over the decades of farming. I have bought 4 of these models off Amazon alone. The last two backpack sprayers have the neat trick of having the straps pop off the sprayer, always right when you are loading it on your back in full capacity. The last 4 of these also has the neat feature of the rubber gasket on the strainer basket decompose and stretch after a number of uses. The sprayer says its compatible with all chemical but as an organic farmer I have been spraying a bit of vinegar. Well, okay, now the gasket is shot and if I happen to be spraying an herbicide occasionally for touch up on some non-organic ground, I know have that or any other chemical (even 30% vinegar) you do not want this running down your back. I called the company, and they offer the gasket- but only with the cap and strainer at the great deal of $47.00 before shipping. First person I called and asked if they could help, before we even got to what for, hung up on me. The second couldn't get me off the phone fast enough, after seeing how FOS he was. So I hope I can find this gasket at a ag company for the $5 it should cost. Otherwise I would reconsider buying this. ... show more

  • Sprays well, didn't like the straps.
Style: Backpack Sprayer W/Adjustable and Fan No...
This sprayer is working well for me despite arriving with very poor assembly instructions. The pump operates smoothly and the spray is delivered evenly. The shoulder straps are just awful. They attach at the bottom, to the frame, with a plastic clip that won't stay in place. This allows either strap to randomly disconnect causing the sprayer to suddenly tilt on my back or just fall off. A ball of duct tape has mostly fixed the issue but what an ugly mess! ... show more

Style: Backpack Sprayer W/Adjustable and Fan No...
Thus far I have prob run 250 gallons of liquified fermentation solutions through my Chapin 61800. The unit rides well on my back and has not leaked from the lid or at the pump seal. The seal for the lid is of high quality and fits snugly. The trigger mechanism has very good response to operation of the hand lever with a very minimum of drip after shut off. Operation of the pump with the hand lever is smooth and each stroke delivers substantial pressure for operation. I operate the unit at maximum pressure to keep work flowing and minimize time spent spraying. 'Three tips with this unit. The fan tip delivers the most volume and issues a very even and substantial atomized mist which will reach out a good 7 feet, guessing, beyond the tip. Angle of fan coverage is probably about 150 degrees. The other two nozzles are a hollow cone and a solid cone.Pressure is good, no gauge but I will venture to say pressure is about 80 psi. I have not checked the volume in terms of gallons per minute but the volume is appreciable. The pump I imagine would be maxed out to fully pressurize a two fan nozzle delivery attachment but I think it will support 2 nozzles. For suspension solutions all the in line filters must be removed as they trap fine particulate and suspensions will readily clog up flow. I did not find it necessary to remove the in tank screen filter. Suspensions are not recommended in piston pump sprayer anyway but I am bucking the grain here realizing the pump may need replacement sometime during my lifetime. Fundamentally good sprayer unless one get a lemon and then I believe Chapin will help. They seem to have excellent customer service and knowledge about their products. ... show more

  • Thin straps, lousy tank screw cap, leaked herbicide down my back. Returned!
Style: Backpack Sprayer W/Adjustable and Fan No...
I bought this sprayer to replace a thirty year old Field King sprayer. The first unit was returned because of a pin-hole leak in the side of the tank: Lousy QC. Tip: Fill with water to test once assembled! I asked for a replacement, but the next one one was barely serviceable: 1. The thin shoulder straps dig into both trapezius muscles on either side of one's neck. The straps are secured to the steel frame with plastic clips that slide around on the frame and can pop off as one puts on the sprayer. 2. The securing the tank cap is finicky as it easily cross threads. It may look secure and feel tight, but it leaked herbicide onto my back the first time a I put it on. 3. The handle does not fold away for storage and is inconvenient to mount/dismount for storage as it is secured with TWO 1/2" bolts w/ thread lock nuts. After two days of usage, I cleaned and returned the sprayer as I did not want to use again. I paid an extra $25 to buy another Field King which I rate 4.5 stars (my max rating as everything can be improved). ... show more

  • Perfect backpack sprayer for fence stain
Style: Backpack Sprayer W/Adjustable and Fan No...
Fan nozzle made it so easy (and quick!) to stain our fence. 85 linear feet of 6 foot privacy fence in less than 30 minutes. The strap attachment points are a little weird, but super minor.
