  • Nice Unit
Style: Translucent
This backpack sprayer is constructed very well. The parts and hose are high quality. I used it with 30 Seconds Cleaner on my roof. I was able to adjust the nozzle as needed to spray another 10 feet up from an A-frame ladder. If you need to spray any further than that, you will need to make other plans. Pumping the sprayer is also a breeze. It took me about 5 - 10 minutes to get used to the operation of the unit and it was smooth sailing from there. If you follow the directions for taking care of it, I can see it lasting for many years. I also like the fact that they sell replacement parts if parts wear out. ... show more

  • Made to spray bleach.
Style: Translucent
I have used this sprayer for every chemical I spray. Bleach, grass killer, liquid fertilizer. Easy to use. Wished I had purchased long ago.

  • I'd recommend it. Just make sure you are clear on your use objectives.

We have many large trees on our residential lot. Consequentially, we get a lot of black mildew on the clapboards/side of house. I had been using a pump sprayer to apply chlorline/water mix. I needed to use a long extension ladder to reach the top of the house, since the pump sprayer did not project very far. It was very cumbersome to use and repump up on the ladder and my balance isn't what it once was. I was looking for a sprayer I could run from the ground. This Chapin works very, very well for that purpose. It works best on your back, even when standing on the ground. It's just easier to manipulate the pump lever. Ihad to pump often because I needed to reach the 2nd story eaves. I would spray, let it sit for 5 minutes, grab the nearby hose and wash it off. The mildew poured off the side. No scrubbing necessary. When I was done (house is beige in color) it looked like the house had just been painted. I was ticked pink. To do a typical two story home took me about 5-6 tank refills (I was very meticulous). It was a pain to put the tank on my back, being small and older, but I didn't relish the idea of refilling it more often. Perhaps in time, I'll set it in a wagon and roll it around the house. Pros: fair compromise over a $25 home depot sprayer. Very simple to assemble, use, clean and store. Cons: If you are not strong, you may find it hard to put on your back. I'd reccommend this. Don't dis this if it's not the right application for you. It has it's limits and don't expect it to be something it's not. It's not a power washer. ... show more

  • Excellent customer service. Surpasses everyone!
Style: Old Design
First of all, let me tell you that I tried to do this review a few days ago, but the Amazon Website was acting funny and wouldn't let me post it. Hopefully it is working better this time. The sprayer arrived in quite simple packaging...no problems there. It arrived within 5 days and I was surprised by this speed. When I started to assemble the spray wand to the sprayer, I noticed that the cotter pin was just a bent piece of wire...tried to make it work, but it fell out repeatedly. No problem, I thought, just but a cheap one at the local hardware store. Then the straps seemed a bit hard to adjust and became uncomfortable after about 20 minutes of spraying. Still, not a large problem considering I was finished in 30 minutes. When I left a review of this product on the Chapin website, someone (Kate Ficarella) emailed me the next business day to discuss my "dissatisfaction" with their product. I called them up and expressed concern over a few items and Kate told me: "No problem, we'll ship you out another one tomorrow." Really, I was quite flabbergasted at this service for a couple of items. But then she mentioned to me that I was not supposed to leave the wand in the 90 degree position attached to the pump pipe that attaches to the pump...it apparently is a no-no (doesn't say it in the manual, however...)and it will make it extremely difficult to pressurize the system next time I use it. Again, excellent customer service and DO NOT LEAVE THE SPRAY WAND AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE, that you see on the picture both on the manual and on their website! Would not hesitate to buy another product from this excellent company again!!! Thank you, Kate Ficarella from Chapin...you have restored my confidence in American Companies. ... show more

  • Very good but not really for my use
Style: Old Design
I realized when buying this item that it was not made for what I wanted. But I could not find what I wanted so I just modified this and it was quite acceptable. I was cleaning my 30 year old cedar siding by spraying on bleach then pressure washing. I wanted a sprayer I could leave on the ground with a long hose and an extended wand that I could take up a ladder. So I strapped this sprayer to a small hand cart/truck and added about 12 feet to the hose. I also had a pressure washer wand set that attached to the wand lengthening it about 8 feet. It all worked pretty well except for the fact that I had to keep going to the unit to pump up the pressure. On your back it would be right there and most of the time But with the long hose and extended wand. I was mostly on the ground just a few feet away. ... show more

  • Works well
Style: Old Design
Good arm exercise. This sprayer doesn't work by pressurizing the whole five-gallon container. It pressurizes a chamber that then powers the spray. You only get a full-pressure burst for about 4 seconds before you have to pump some more. It will spray for several more seconds at lower pressure without additional pumping. It's too heavy for me when filled to its five-gallon capacity. Two gallons (plus cleaner) is about the max for me. But two gallons goes a pretty long way. I'm not sure why the manufacturer doesn't make all their sprayers resistant to bleach. I guess the idea is to give buyers the option to save a few dollars, or to give the company the option to charge a little more for a bleach-resistant one. In any case, if you plan to spray bleach solution, choosing a bleach resistant sprayer is a good idea. There was a little chemical odor from the sprayer when I first unpacked it. I think it was from the sprayer hose. I left it outside for a couple of days and it seems to have dissipated. It does reach the eave of a two-story house, but doesn't as easily reach the highest parts of the gable end. You might need a ladder for that. Assembly was pretty easy. It also comes with a fan spray nozzle. ... show more
