  • As funny as it is to see a little LED pop ...
Color: L) Rgb (Common Anode) (100pcs)
For those adding these to their car/truck/motorcycle please read this... You WILL need resistors. I will assume you will be using a LED controller and most are 5 Volt supply. Having said that, grab a 100ohm 1/4watt resistor for the blue cathode (neg side) one 100ohm 1.4 watt for the green cathode (neg), and a 150 ohm for the red cathode (neg). If you need to, and you buy the 100ohm in a bulk pack, you can use 3 on the red side. Run 2 in parallel and then the third in series and it will work. (I had 100, but no 150's). this will even out the lights and protect the LED. As funny as it is to see a little LED pop and smoke.. tearing your work apart to redo it isn't fun.... not that I would know.... ... show more

  • COMMON CATHODE and SUPER BRIGHT
Color: M) Rgb (Common Cathode) (100pcs)
These are COMMON CATHODE RGB LEDs. Perfect for my purposes (wiring up to an Arduino and/or Ultimarc's LED controller boards), but if you're shooting for use with a common-anode based RGB light controller, or the LED-Wiz boards from groovygamegear -- you'll need to get something else. Super bright. Had this wired up to PWM control software on an Arduino, and I had to put something between me and it just to look at it. You CAN tell that the voltage/current sensitivity of the R, G, and B elements differ, but that's pretty typical with RGB LEDs. I haven't really found any affordable (aka CHEAP) RGB LEDs where the R,G,B elements were more or less balanced. It's just the nature of this beast. Considering getting these from Mouser/DigiKey would have cost upwards of $100, I'd say this was a darn good value! ... show more

  • Happy; Note about Common Anode vs. Common Cathode
Color: L) Rgb (Common Anode) (100pcs)
Some people are confused about Common Anode vs. Common Cathode. As a four lead device, in either case a fourth lead is common to and serves each RGB color. Common Anode would denote that the remaining RGB color leads (Cathodes or Cathode like) are to be powered at a voltage below that of the anode (which for example could be ground if a simple ground and negative voltage supply). Common Cathode would denote that the remaining RGB color leads are to be powered positive above the Cathode voltage (and where for example the cathode could be ground in a simple ground and positive voltage supply). A single resistor in series with Common lead can used to provide the necessary current limit for all three R, G, B. As long as the Cathode is understood to be necessarily negative with respect to the Anode. These LEDS are quite good, though will have the apparent intensity differences typical of RGB's. A good value, Very Happy. ... show more

  • Very good LEDs but lead spacing is incorrect on drawings
Color: M) Rgb (Common Cathode) (100pcs)
I got the 5mm RGB common Cathode LED. The Green element is super bright and required a higher resistor value than R and B (to balance out colors). II designed a Printed Circuit Board to solder this LED on and I'm glad I only ordered 20 boards: The center-to-center lead spacing is incorrectly called out on the mechanical drawing as 1.0 mm when in reality it is 1.25 mm. It is not impossible to fit the parts in but it takes much longer to solder them properly. I'm going for PCB revision 1.1 now. Everything else works fine. ... show more

  • good
Color: M) Rgb (Common Cathode) (100pcs)
Have used as many as 24 at a time, and all work well. Appreciate the voltage label for each color on the bag. Only challenge is shades of yellow: the red & green together bleed red & green, i.e. look separate instead of combined (no such issues with magenta or cyan); wonder if diffused is the way to go. Good for learning the basics. ... show more

  • Common anode/common cathode
Color: L) Rgb (Common Anode) (100pcs)
I initially ordered the common cathode version, not thinking ahead to the fact that I would be using low side switches (mosfets). The forward voltages on the common anodes are marked "2.0-2.2V/3.0V-3.2V" but my hand measurement of the first 5 I pulled out of the bag found them to be less than that (R: 1.9V, G 2.5V, B 2.7V) and I was able to drive them from my 3V power supply. ... show more

  • Excellent devices - 100% worked.
Color: L) Rgb (Common Anode) (100pcs)
These are excellent. I tested 100% of the devices to be sure the quality was up to snuff. 100% work. Tested with a constant current source of 20ma on each lead. Tested with all three on, and red green and blue on independently. Perfect. Brightness is not a problem. Color control via time multiplex works well (power on n % of the time). Very low cost. I recommend. ... show more

  • Light level is TOO low to be practical
Color: M) Rgb (Common Cathode) (100pcs)
Had high hopes, they work but the light output level is so low they are not worth using in my projects.
