I use the warm white version because it’s easier on my eyes. When I have a camping lantern that has this size led I replace the cheap white ones with these and guess what, it is at least 40% brighter with the same amount of current draw. I've been designing and 3D printing LED powered lights for a few years and recently got into trying to assimilate SMD LEDs into my design. I came across these and just had to try them. In terms of lighting, these diodes are BRIGHT. Very bright. Far brighter than the 5 mm, 3 mm, 0803, and 0603 LEDs I've been working with! I like the fact that I can still power these with common batteries, in the correct configurations of course! However, I haven't been working with these LEDs as much. They're an odd shape compared to the LEDs I listed above, which means they don't fit any of the proto boards or strip boards I have, and these LEDs have tiny tabs for terminals, so soldering wires to them is a tremendous pain, even when a microscope is used for viewing during soldering. Lately, I've just been cutting small tabs of copper and soldering one to each terminal of these LEDs, and that works well enough, provided I don't accidentally de-solder the LED from the tab while trying to make a connection. So, these things are really bright and easy to power, but they're difficult to work with compared to more common LEDs, at least in my experience. ... show more

I used these to repair a LED light panel that has a few bad LEDs. After removing the bad ones, you have to clean up the soldering pads for this to seat well. I also would recommend squeezing a little thermal grease to their backside so that they can stick to the backing plate while soldering. It also should help to dissipate the heat it generates during operation, thus prolonging its life. Since this LED is in parallel with others, they all light up properly, so their on-voltage should be similar and compatible. ... show more

Very bright, nice white color, was able to drive these at 2.0vDC and be really dim and stupid bright at 4vDC but it gets really warm would need a heat sink. At 3vDC they are brighter than my phone LED and run cool to the touch with no heatsink or airflow.
