  • terrible quality control
Size: 8-Inch Pattern Name: Snap Ring Plier
The supplied pins are not high enough tolerance to say the least. Neither of the two bent pins are functional. I would say that the silver ones pictured should have been caught by inspectors at Channellock. I have had much better luck with their other tools. This was a severe letdown.

Size: 8-Inch Pattern Name: Snap Ring Plier
Wish I'd read all the one star reviews first. These absolutely will not work if you need the ring to even come close to closing. As someone else said, the jaws have play in them and will not close completely making them useless. I finally had to get a pair of needle nose pliers and use them to assist the jaws to close. Absolute junk. ... show more

  • They're a better tool than needed for that task
Size: 8-Inch Pattern Name: Snap Ring Plier
I bought these so I could rebuild a Kitchenaid mixer that I'd broken. They're a better tool than needed for that task, but it was difficult to know for sure which pliers would fit (several snap ring plier reviews on Amazon start with "didn't fit my KA mixer.") I went with these because it seemed likely at least one of the interchangeable tip sizes would work. The smallest ones do. They may not see a lot of use from me, so it's likely they're the last such pliers I'll need. They're nicely made, and the switch that flips them from inner- to outer- is slick. If you've never used this kind of pliers, and need to get them to work on small snap rings, notice that you can bring the pins closer together just by extending them a bit farther from the ends of the tool. Also notice notice that mounting the pins pointing up or down determines whether they angle out or in—if you have them going the wrong way the pins will just slip off the snap rings. ... show more

  • Works Fine, May Come With Incorrectly Bent Pins
Size: 8-Inch Pattern Name: Snap Ring Plier
The pliers are fine, for my limited use: removing retaining rings from dropper posts (mountain bike part). It is handy that they can switch between internal and external and they are a fraction of the cost of the Park Tool version. The blue handle almost matches my wide array of Park Tools. My only complaint is that one set of the tips contained a pin with the 90 degree bend the wrong way (see photo)... i.e. when inserted, the tips will not be level. Other than that, they are fine. ... show more

  • Great tool, versatile and a great value.
Size: 8-Inch Pattern Name: Snap Ring Plier
In the photo is a 6 mm snap ring. If anyone has ever tried to remove and install a ring of that size (SMALL) knows that it will most likely be found by the vacuum after it flys off into the room somewhere. This is a GREAT snap ring plier on many levels. First it comes with several different tip sizes and also has straight and 90 degree tips as well. They can be swapped out easily with the enclosed Allen wrench, all of them fit into a little pouch to keep them together. The spring tension is just right, low enough to provide feedback when they engage to ring. A flip of the toggle changes from inside to outside rings easily. For inside rings you have about an 1.25” reach and they will go that far up to .75” in diameter. The grips are plasticoated and easy to keep control of. Best thing other than they work great? They are made in the USA. I own several snap ring pliers, I bought these to replace bearings on my bandsaw blade guides. My other ring pliers require you to change the handles for inside or outside and they have fixed diameter tips. As you can tell I’m super pleased with this tool. It’s worth every penny and it’s not a whole lot of penny’s. ... show more

  • There's Nothing Like the Right Tool
Size: 10-Inch Pattern Name: Snap Ring Plier
A job I was working on included a 2 1/4" external snap ring, and the 8" snap ring pliers I had (not Channellock) just weren't up to the task. Their tips were too small to keep a grip on the ring, and the pliers themselves were too flimsy to handle the larger snap ring. After multiple failed attempts, I finally decided to get a better set of snap-ring pliers. I was initially put off by the price of these 10" Channellocks, but once I got them and put them to work, I feel like they're worth it. The black tips--which fit the target snap-ring perfectly--were easy to swap out using the included Allen wrench, and they fit securely in the pliers. The hex-shape of the tips fits the hex-shape of the pliers, making alignment easy. Best of all, these 10" Channellock snap-ring pliers have a ratcheting feature, so they hold the opening you set until you release the tension using the thumb button on the handle of the pliers. The ratcheting feature makes it really easy to get and keep a precise opening pressure on the snap ring while removing or installing it. Removing the 2 1/4" snap ring was laughably easy with these pliers. Only time will tell if they hold up as well as my 20-year-old Channellock pliers, but so far, I am very pleased with them. ... show more

  • Best snap ring pliers for the money
Size: 8-Inch Pattern Name: Snap Ring Plier
An ingenious design by the engineers at Channellock. I know that these snap ring pliers will last a life time and that they are made in the USA. I was going to spend less and get one of the kits that had 4 different snap ring pliers for $5 less. I am glad that I did not go cheap. Snap ring pliers have small tips that will bend easily if they are not made of quality materials. I am confident that the Channellock snap ring pliers will not bend as they are made from the best materials. Avoid wasting money on the cheaper brand and buy the best. ... show more

  • Works Great, Shift The Mode Lever Gently
Size: 8-Inch Pattern Name: Snap Ring Plier
Works good but be gentle with the mechanism. It helps to gently engage the lever while squeezing the pliers slightly. Once set in the correct mode, it works fine. Those who have trouble or break it must be forcing the lever without putting the jaws in motion a bit. Minus one star because the spring was missing. You might need to tighten up the center screw a bit to remove the slop. The jaws on mine were very loose. I also noticed the pins were slightly offset and didn't line up quite right. Follow Up: Because the spring was missing, I requested a replacement. Amazon shipped it out via one-day shipping. Great customer service. The replacement was tighter than the first (a good thing) and the pins were perfectly aligned. The spring was there too. Quality control might be a bit lacking but still a great tool so far. I've removed a few test rings and so far so good. ... show more
