  • Channel Master Preamp works like a champ.
I have four high power channels and one low power channel available. I need the NBC low power channel for a couple of Packer games. Per my TV I had strong signal on the high power channels and next to nothing on the low power channel. I installed the Channel Master preamp in my basement not on the mast as recommended so if I needed to adjust gain I didn't need to climb a ladder. Before I installed the preamp the high power channels were 98/100 on my TV's signal strength meter and the low power channel - no signal. On the out-of-box 16dB gain setting I have 98/100 on the high power channels and 36-54/100 (depending on the weather) on my low power channel. Perfect! I liked the results so much I bought another CM preamp for my Yagi radio antenna. ... show more

  • The best TV signal amplifier.
I don't have any ghost picture or freeze screens because of this signal amp. It has and adjustable gain and it is just what I needed.

  • The HONEST review Channel Master CM-7778HD
Though this is a good amp it is only recommended if you have ONE outdoor antenna. It has the option to connect a VHF and UHF separately but it had a real hard time getting good signal on each of the seperate ports. It worked better just combining the antenna itself and connecting it to just the one UHF/VHF port. It is nice that it has a low and high gain giving you two types of gain to test. Biggest problem with these amps is it blows up all signal in whole. This means channels that don’t need this amp will get distorted because now the signal is too high. It worked decently with the Channel Master Omnidirectional antenna but it did not solve the issues of fixing low signals while keeping good higher signals. For my location I ended up returning and getting a Televes amp which balances all signals. The difference was exceptional compared to this Channel Master. For me I am located in New England near New Haven and NYC. ... show more

  • The Best Antenna Pre-Amplifier, Channel Master CM-7778HD!!
I bought this to replace a 5 year old antennas direct preamp, I was losing channels with the antennas direct preamp. The CM7778HD seemed like what I needed. I am in a deep fringe area (in a valley with hills and trees keeping from line of sight to towers) about 40 miles from any TV towers plus I have a 50 foot run of coax to tha antennas and split to 3 TV’s in the house. I hooked up the CM7778HD with separate UHF and VHF antennas set on the high gain setting, turns out it was too much on the high gain setting due to interference on some channels that were clear before on the old pre amp. I changed the CM7778HD to the low gain setting and I am getting all channels that are reachable in my area. The CM7778HD is a great pre amplifier, made very well and easy to install. ... show more

  • Excellent Purchase
This was just what I needed. I had tried a couple of different, lower priced boosters without much success. With the two others I purchased recently the channels would come in sometimes but not every time. But with this Channel Master CM-7778HD I was shocked how good it was. In my area there are a total of four major channels of networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox) including their sub-channels and some independent stations, I have 37 channels to watch now. The NBC affiliate is 70 miles from me. All come in clear. I live in an upstairs apartment, and I use a ClearStream antenna. Although occasionally the weather will cause issues (storms) the rest of the time the channels are clear. I recommend you purchase this product and don't mess with the cheaper versions. ... show more

  • Powerful, but way too noisy, VHF does not work at all.
One thing this did somewhat well was boost the strength of adjacent market channels. Unfortunately, this product also increased noised on all channels and does not have a good noise floor. On my HDHomeRun monitor, I had stations that were marginal strength (Around 55-65) to to moderate strength (75-85), but this also caused SNR to tank from around 55-65 to right at 50 or just below, which made most of these stations inaudible to receivers. So, while it increased strength, it dramatically increased noise. I have an existing preamp from Wingard , it does not boost as much but it also is low noise and does not cause additional noise. So, I am torn, but I have to send this back and deal with the occasional low signal of these distant channels. Also, the VHF toggle is a joke, when using the combined input, it basically filters out the VHF channels. For this reason, I feel the unit is defective. ... show more

  • Liked Features and performance BUT Failed after only 11 days
I really liked this unit and was willing to pay a fairly hefty price for it. I Liked that it had 2 antenna inputs for UHF and VHF and I liked the High Gain capability of 23/26 db. BUT it Failed after only 11 days. My Tablo could only pick up 20 channels total with only 9 with acceptable signal, and None of my VHF channels. The VHF side quit working first. Had it not failed, I would have given it a 4 or 5 star. I replaced it with a two way splitter(3.5db loss) to join my 2 antenna leads into one lead and then used my previous Channel Master CM-3410 Ultra Mini Amp with only 15db gain. After seeing this perform well, I realize I didn't need the high gain after all. My Tablo now picks up 65 channels of which 55 have great signal strength. ... show more

  • Excellent
Easy to install Be sure to make setting prior to installing Amplifier Head outdoors --- - - -I have mine on a Rohn 25 Ham Radio Tower at 60 feet in a valley by a waterfall --- so reception is a challenge ! Had two extremely weak UHF TV channels now on the radar screen so to speak along with the regular mid strength channels I was receiving in Western Maine . Bought based on Ratings from other buyers and on the Brand ( Channel Master ) which has been an Industry Leader for years ( Worked in a TV Repair shop whilst in college ) I would say without hesitation this is worth every cent you will pay !
