Description

The Champion Power Equipment 6500-Watt Inverter Generator with CO Shield is ultra-quiet and ideal for camping, tailgating, powering items around the RV or providing backup for your essentials. Champion’s EZ Start Dial makes getting started quick and easy. Featuring Cold Start Technology, Extended Run Time, and an easy to read fuel gauge, the reliable 223cc Champion engine produces 6500 starting watts and 5000 running watts, and runs for 15 hours at 25% load when the 3.95-gallon fuel tank is full. With a 0.7-quart oil capacity (included 10W-30) and a low oil shut-off sensor, this inverter operates at an ultra-quiet 64 dBA from 23 feet, which is about as loud as normal speech. The no tool access panel and oil drain tube allow for easy maintenance. Confidently connect your sensitive electronics since this inverter produces Clean Power (less than 3% THD). Our Quick Touch Panel offers fast access to all your controls. The Intelligauge with Power Meter monitors voltage, frequency and operating hours with ease, while Economy Mode monitors power consumption in real time to reduce engine wear and tear. As the electrical load is reduced, the inverter reduces engine speed, providing quieter operation, extended engine life and higher fuel economy. The covered outlets included are a 120V 20.8A RV outlet (TT-30R), 120/240V 20.8A locking outlet (L14-30R), two 120V 20A GFCI household duplex outlets (5-20R), and a 12V automotive-style outlet. Buy this EPA certified inverter generator with confidence – Champion Support and our nationwide network of service centers will back up your purchase with a 3-year limited warranty and FREE lifetime technical support. CO Shield technology monitors the accumulation of carbon monoxide (CO), a poisonous gas produced by engine exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield detects unsafe elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine. CO Shield is not a substitute for an indoor carbon monoxide alarm or for safe operation. DO NOT allow engine exhaust fumes to enter a confined area through windows, doors, vents or other openings. Generators must ALWAYS be used outdoors, far away from occupied buildings with engine exhaust pointed away from people and buildings. Meets the requirements of ANSI/PGMA G300-2018.

  • I used this from July 8, 2024 to July 14 for Hurricane Beryl
Style: 6500-Watt + Gas + EZ Start + CO
I had one issue that turned out to be a small thing. I had just finished doing the break in and was preparing to set it up for the coming hurricane. I did one more start because I wanted to drain the last of the gas out. I pulled the pull cord twice, maybe a little too quickly, then the cord lost all resistance and wasn't engaging with the motor. This was a Saturday. I called the support number and was on hold for 60 minutes. Eventually I got someone that did try really hard to find a solution, but of course, he couldn't. Eventually I asked for a number for local warranty service and he gave me one. For the next two days I was kicking myself that I'd spent money for this and was likely to loose power with a generator sitting in the garage since it was too late to get it serviced. I thought about taking it apart, but didn't want to void the warranty. On Monday after the hurricane hit and the power went out, I looked at it one more time, just pulled the cord very quickly and releasing it quickly about 3 times, and it caught the engine. Hopefully, that never happens again. One other thing I experienced during break in, was that it stalled a couple of times with no to very low load on ECO mode. ECO mode will make the motor sometimes run a little roughly with no load, because the desired RPM is relatively low. But, I wasn't putting much gas in it and part of that might just have been gas starvation. Anyway, after running for a couple of hours, it never stalled again. So, I ran this for most of the next 7 days. Without issue. I ran it at between 20% to 40% load with short peeks into 60% when we used the microwave. It holds 4 gallons and I consistently had 10+ hours of runtime. I only let it run out of gas accidentally one time and am not sure exactly how long it ran that time, but it might have been near 12 hours. All other times I ran it until the gauge showed that it was near out and refueled. During the hurricane, I changed oil twice at around 60 to 70 hours each. It holds 22 ounces and both times it had probably used 3 to 4 ounces of oil. This appears to be common with air-cooled generators. At the 2nd oil change during the hurricane, I also cleaned the air filter and spark arrestor. Neither really seemed dirty. I have not checked the spark plug yet. Some really nice features the unit has is that it displays runtime for the current session total runtime forever, frequency, and has a 5-level load indicator along with a CO2 monitor. It also has all of the normal AC connections. No gas generator can be said to be quiet. But, this is much quieter than the non-inverter open-frame generators. Your neighbors won't get as upset with you. It's probably near the noise of a gas lawn mower. The quality if the power seems very good. LED lights are just as steady as with normal line power. I've used a non-invertor generator and some LED lights would pulse a little. Not this one. It has a 100-hour maintenance item listed in the manual that has no instructions and says should be done by someone with experience. This is cleaning the fuel filter. I looked around on the internet and this appears to be fairly simple, so I think they should have just included the instructions, but that didn't. It also has two 250-hour items with no instructions and again says someone should do this who knows what they are doing. Cleaning the combustion chamber and check/adjust the valve clearance. There's a 3-year item for replacing the fuel line. You can download both the owner and parts manuals if you want to look at them before purchase. Then, you have to be careful how you store it in order to prevent gas from turning to varnish in the unit and preventing it from running. The manual has procedures for different storage intervals. So, there are a number of maintenance considerations if you want to make sure it works when you need it, but that's a common thing with all generators. Overall, I'm very happy with the features and price point. I wish it also had an electric start, but generators with similar features and an electric start cost quite a bit more. ... show more

  • A quiet and powerful little monster
Style: 11,000-Watt + Gas + EZ Remote Start + CO
For someone with a history of Hondas, my (skeptical) first day leaves me MORE than pleased with this beast of a power plant. I'm on the east coast - it shipped from California (cross country freight jitters? you bet!). The promised delivery time was a VERY slow 13 days, but it arrived in Charlotte, NC after only 4 days. I called CEVA home delivery people who graciously arranged delivery 5 days earlier than originally scheduled. It came in on a wrapped pallet on a big box truck with a lift gate and took two guys to get it up to my porch (200+ pounds). The outer box didn't even have a scratch and the inner packaging was as solid as I've ever seen. The unit was in 100% perfect condition. All of the promised accessories were present. The instruction manual was easy to read and easy to follow. Setup took me about 90 minutes only because I read and re-read the instructions to be sure I got it right, and because I don't do this but about once every 10 years, and because I'm new to all the digital technology on generators. The remote paired up right away. The container of oil was exactly the amount the instructions called for (no waste or left overs). The battery connected perfectly and was charged up. The generator fired up on the very first attempt using electric push-button start. Later, it fired up using the remote start and engine stop. I'm not accustomed to an electronic choke, but this one's automatic choke functioned perfectly the first time. The noise level is fully half of my NorthStar/Honda 10k current generator, and meets my expectations just fine. After running it with no load for about 30 minutes, I connected a 50 amp cable to my existing house port, turned off the shore power and all of the breakers, then fired up the generator. After turning the breakers on one-by-one, I was able to run air fryer, coffee maker, lights, water heater, and home PC with nearly undetectable groans from the generater running at full speed - NOT in the economy mode. My 10k NorthStar/Honda will groan a little when the clothes dryer starts and I expect this unit may do the same, but I haven't tried it yet. These units apparently take more detailed and more frequent maintenance actions according to the manual, but if it performs like today over time, it will be well worth keeping this little beast in shape. Customer service is first class but takes time to get through on the phone (likley hurricane related). I needed an Amazon 'receipt' (easily done on desktop PC) to fully register my generator. In summary, this is a seriously stout competitor to the more expensive Honda inverter units I've had in the past. I will update this review if anything changes, but for now - WOW! ***** Since my initial week, I've contacted Champion customer service twice (turned out to be my errors) and am very pleased with their ease of contact and willingness to help. Highly recommended product and company. ... show more

  • One Powerful inverter generator (11000- 9000 )
Style: 11,000-Watt + Gas + EZ Remote Start + CO
This is my 3rd Champion Generator. They have always been very reliable and very well built. This inverter I wanted more running watts than my previous inverter to run more things in my house at once. I needed to get a new Gentent canopy to fit this inverter, they are different for the closed inverters. This gentent is as large as they come for the inverters and it’s cutting really close. I needed this so I can run it in bad weather, this one was tough to install and I had to purchase an extra clear skirt cover because the control panel is elongated on this unit compared to other inverters. It really needs (2) clear covers to cover the entire panel, so I ordered another one to cover it completely. (Not shown in the pics) If are looking for reliable company and inverter than this is the inverter generator for you. Easy to install, I set up the entire thing in 30 Minutes completely running. This inverter is actually quieter than the open frame inverters and doesn’t even show a hiccup when adding a well pump, water heater, 2 refrigerators, furnace, lights TV and computers. That’s all I need in a storm. Highly recommend Champion and this inverter. ... show more

  • Amazing piece of equipment
Style: 6500-Watt + Gas + EZ Start + CO
The media could not be loaded. Take it from a professional mechanic. This is a well built machine that puts out clean power and looks beautiful as per my wife. Followed the quick start guide and it started on the first pull. It's not the quietest, but way quieter than a traditional open frame generator. It's quieter than what the video portrays, phone videos amplify noise levels. The fuel filler neck has a nice fine screen filter to filter out any junk from those dirty 5 gallon gas jugs. Top notch product up there with Honda but at half the cost. ... show more
