  • Ultra low VOC, kid and indoor friendly. Seal with a clear furniture wax or a polycrylic to protect your finish. If yours is an outdoor project, seal with an exterior polycrylic.

This was my first time using chalk paint - I wanted a nice teal color for a chest I had that didn't really match my bedroom color scheme. Since the chest seemed to be made of mdf covered with who knows what, chalk paint seemed to be a good choice. I chose the color "Twilight" as it seemed a good match for my teal bedding. The only prep I did was tape off the edges of the drawers and wash down the chest with plain water. From start to finish, including washing, drying, emptying the drawers, dragging outside, painting two coats, adding two coats of wax, buffing, and moving it back into place it only took four hours! I've always used cheaper waverly chalk paint from Walmart but I finally needed a color that I just couldn't find. I stumbled on this paint and I have to say it has been the best paint yet! Great coverage, no prep work and beautiful pigment!

First off - I'm pleased with the color (so saturated) and the final finish (smooth) My first use of chalk paint. So the first coat went on great - I was covering a poor paint job from a few years ago. When I went to do the 2nd coat, it took effort to apply. So I paused, watched a couple YouTube videos and they recommended spritzing water on the piece and applying paint. That worked, but was a bit awkward. I thought I would need a third coat, but just had a few minor touch ups. This is the Twilight color. I used 3/4 small jar. This is a great chalk paint. I have used other brands before and almost all of them require multiple coats. I will say if you’re going for a distressed look, the other products will work better so natural wood will show through

I really like chalky chicks paint, I’ve used it now on two furniture flips I’ve done. The only thing I’ve noticed on both is that the color it turns out doesn’t completely match the color shown online. I just wish they were more true to reality! DC Blue and Twilight for reference!

It was a little hard to tell exactly what color Mermaid would be, but I got what I was hoping for! It's an absolutely beautiful bright turquoise. This was my first time using chalk paint, so a few notes for other newbies: - You definitely need 2 coats unless you are going for a dry-brush look. - I've seen some blogs/ads oversell how much furniture you can paint with this, but it still was a good deal. I ordered 16 oz and just barely had enough for a desk and chair. - Buy some soft wax to finish it. The wax surprisingly was by far the easiest part. I just got the cheap SC Johnson Paste Wax and it looks great and didn't discolor it. - Buy a big paint brush or a roller for the chalk paint, but don't bother with a special wax brush. I used an old cotton t-shirt to apply the wax and it went on great. ... show more
