Quality matters Sturdy ceramic . You will never need others. YES you DO> want the matching 9" plates. Fit perfectly on top or bottom. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR GET THE WHOLE SET. I would have gotten the whole set. But storage is difficult for me. I made stands, They are too pretty to store in a cabinet, Instead of flowers that die so fast. This set does the tick. And looks like they can last forever. They look dishwasher and microwave safe. NEVER: Put hot in cold glass. Nor cold in hot glass. Ceramic can take some heat tho. However don't risk cracking!
