Description

Keep your telescopes, smartphones, tablets, GPS systems, cameras and other USB-powered devices charged and ready with PowerTank Lithium—the ideal outdoor portable-charging solution. Celestron specially designed this product with the needs of amateur astronomers in mind; it’s packed with useful features. First, you’ll find a 12V connection for your Celestron telescope—no cigarette lighter port needed. Once your telescope is connected, attach the battery securely to one of the tripod legs with the included Velcro straps so it is safely out of the way. Two USB ports, one quick-charge and one regular, keep your other devices charged, and can be used simultaneously with the telescope charger. When your eyes are dark adapted, use the red LED flashlight to navigate your observing site without sacrificing your night vision. When the session is over, turn on the bright white LED flashlight to illuminate your site and ensure no lens caps or eyepieces are left behind in the dark. When you’re not observing, keep this battery charged and at the ready for unexpected emergencies. PowerTank Lithium’s unique Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery chemistry has significant advantages over other battery chemistries. It will last you many times longer than sealed lead acid or lithium cobalt batteries thanks to its un-recharged shelf life of 10 years and 2000 charge cycle lifespan. It’s also better for the environment, free of toxic heavy metals like cobalt and lead. But most importantly, LiFePO4 can withstand higher temperatures than standard lithium cobalt batteries and will not be a fire danger if accidentally punctured. All this combined with its rugged design make PowerTank Lithium the perfect outdoor power supply.

  • Great Power Pack for Telescope
I ‘S Wonderful alternative to batteries, this power pack, keeps our Celestron telescope going for a long time, great when you’re not near power outlets as well

  • Works as advertised and save lots of batteries
When I bought my NextStar telescope, I figured I'd get by with just disposable batteries, but soon learned that that might have been an error. I bought this to save on batteries, and it works. It is easy to use, provides consistent power to the telescope, and as a bonus, has a red/white led to illuminate the area if need be. It is not what I'd consider "light" weight. If you dropped this on your bare toe, it would no doubt break it. It does does come with a strap to attach it to a tripod leg, and another strap that can be used to attach it just about anywhere, so you can place it somewhere safe and out-of-the-way. Weight aside, I only wish I had bought it earlier. ... show more

  • Finally, a great telescope battery!
I'd been looking for this battery for years. It's perfect. Relatively lightweight, attaches to the tripod leg, power cable stays out of the way, provides a white or red light so everyone can see the ground around the telescope. Best of all, the charge on this battery lasts a long time. It's all I need for a whole evening of star gazing. Well done, Celestron! ... show more

  • great battery, with some limitations
this is a very capable power pack, with a few caveats. first is the 12V power tap is not a standard 5.5mmX2.1X10 mm jack- It is 13 mm long, and a standard 10 mm jack doesn't work, at least mine didn't. the solution was to splice the included power cable jack onto my scopes power cable. If you have a standard 5.5X2.1 power input on your scope (mine isn't), you will be fine, otherwise you will need to cobble something together. The other gripe is the rubber access cover is probably the most poorly designed thing I have ever seen- I had to pry it open far enough to turn it on, and when I did, the little elastic cords holding the cover to the body snapped off on first use- so now I have one more little bit to keep track of, will probably (again), cobble something together so I don't lose it. Also be aware you can't use the USB and the scope power at the same time. On the plus side, it is the only battery technology that outputs more than 12 volts over the course of its entire discharge cycle, which is important for my Skywatcher AZ-EQ5, which is sensitive to input voltage. ... show more

  • ... begin with I want to say that I highly recommend this power pack its lithium and as we all ...
To begin with I want to say that I highly recommend this power pack its lithium and as we all know when you make power packs with lithium battery they're smaller more powerful and they last longer, I was quite impressed with its size its functional features you can use it as a light you can charge a mobile phone if you run out of power and it has a red light in case you need some lighting there in the dark for setting up your telescope without having to disturb others or stargazing, overall it may cost a little bit more than the other power tanks I would suggest save a couple of more bucks and definitely get this one you will not regret it.!!! ... show more

  • A must have accessory for the Celestron Nexstar line of scopes
Must have product for the Nexstar series. Why? Because the 6 AA batteries do not output the required amount of voltage for very long resulting in odd behavior -- for example instead of slewing to an object, it will slew straight to the ground or it doesn't respond at all. Enter the Lithium power tank. It really does power the scope for 10 hours and at the required voltage. Your scope will not run out of power and more importantly, work as designed. The PowerTank also has USB ports and a red/white flashlight with a high and low brightness settings (low brightness red when your observing and the bright white when your done and breaking everything down). I secured my powertank to the fork arm so I never worry about annoying cord wrap when the scope is slewing to objects. ... show more

  • Tons of Power
It powers my telescope for hours! I was a little skeptical at first but it really did its job - for several hours. Recharging time was roughly what the instructions said so it doesn't take too long for such a capable battery. The red light is a little bright if you look directly at it, but it didn't ruin my night-time vision. It works well to illuminate your entire working area. ... show more

  • Long lasting battery for GoTo Telescopes!
This battery is incredible! I've used it 3 nights over a couple of weeks and it still had most of its power left...three of the dots still lighted. I recharged it and then spent another night recently slewing relentlessly after which it still had full power. The battery is small and light, making it extremely portable and expanding the possibilities of where I can use my telescopes. ... show more
