I was scared to use it. Because I read other reviews from other cheaper one. So I put on a jacket and thick sweatpants and a mask over my mouth and nose. The screen in front was close to my nose so I tried to move it forward. I heard someone got stung through the screen on the nose. I guess my chin was touching the screen and that's where I got stung.     • Nice Bee Keepers Suite But Also Useful For Wasp & Hornet Protection.

Because I live on a large property I have wild bees around that I always have to deal with. And I always wanted to gather them from unwanted places and put into a controlled hive location. But I also have to deal with plenty of wasps and hornets around here too. They don't bother me as much as they seem to other people who show up and foolishly start waving their hands around swatting them away and then get what is coming to them by not knowing that being calm and still keeps them also calm and non-defensive. But from time to time they do make their nests in the most inconvenient places where you either have to eliminate them or move them. With this suit, I can just do what is needed best safely. Yearly I get big wasp nests in my fuel storage bin within feet of where I have to grab a fuel can and if moving slow, "with non-harmful intentions" they can sense that and leave me alone. But still, not a good place and anyone else getting a fuel can will get a different result. So this is a great protection suit for all that. Plus next year I do plan on starting some good location bee hives. The suit has all the features I need as a beginner without breaking the bank going overboard right out of the gate along with all else I need to get. The size ordered XXL, also fits me and that’s because I went one size larger than the normal XL size I would normally order which makes me happy. I just have to get used to it because believe it or not I have been around the bees to wasps in shorts and tee shirts without much of a problem. It's only the unexpected events when you bump into each other that creates a self-defense mode problem with them. Like once I hit the tree head on with the bucket of my front end loader at the time and a bee hive fell out of the tree and into the bucket. It didn't take long for them to figure out the bucket was not the one to go after as they hung there in midair in a swarm looking at the bucket and then me, and decided on me instead. I was sore for days afterwards. I bet this suit would have saved that day, but who goes around wearing something like this all the time. But better to have it when you need it then not. I will find out more with it next bee and wasp season. But for now I am happy with what it is and what I got. ... show more

    • Ok for a lightweight and inexpensive suit
Size: XL
A few caveats up front: (1) my bees are in for the winter and i cannot test this thing in the field and (2) I am judging this in the context of an inexpensive/light duty product (if I were comparing this to a professional-grade bee suit that would cost twice as much I would probably give it one or two stars less) The suit itself is ok. On the up side, the material is as good as most products out there with respect to weight and weave. I would feel safe. The pockets are numerous and handy. On the down side, the zippers are brass, sharp, and catchy. You can mitigate this a little with soap but plastic zippers would have been MUCH better. The sizing is very wonky. I am a fairly regular sized guy and ordered the XL (bee suits should be loose so I wanted to be safe). Legs are very long (fine by me) but arms and torso are VERY short for an XL. This is an issue as the short torso makes getting in and out of the suit a challenge for anyone 5’9” or taller. The hoods are fine. Again catchy zippers are a pain. I think I would feel safe. The gloves are not very reassuring. The material is thin (not the heavy canvas I am used to seeing) all around and there is some kind of mesh material in the wrists, probably to increase flexibility (but I don’t see much of a difference). I get that they are supposed to ride over the suit but you are in for trouble if the (freaky short) arms ride up over your wrists). Even the leather is thin. I would not use the gloves when directly handling bees. All in all, this is a nice product if you are looking for something for you (or maybe a guest) to wear when around bees but not actually handling a hive (i.e. doing something that will make them angry and seriously try to sting you). An actual bee keeper probably needs something with little more quality (e.g. easier to get on and off, easier to zip, etc…) and most certainly better gloves. ... show more
