The media could not be loaded. My cat loves this toy! Out of all string toys this one winds my cat up the most and gives hours of play. A few things to not is that this toy has a wire instead of string and a plastic butterfly. Together this gives a nice bounce and easily imitates a butterfly fluttering. The cat adores it and gets so excited when I pick this toy up. I should not that this toy is disposable and will not last. My cat recieved one as a gift and it made it through about twoo weeks of play before all that was left was the boddy of the butterfly and I soon purchased 3 more since the price is so reasonable. I had to get this for my kittens. They love to catch bugs so this was the perfect toy for them. They could play with this toy all day if you would let them. The butterfly is fragile and eventually gets chewed on and the wings break but we did get probably a good few months of play out of it. Luckily the price is low enough I can keep replacing them. Okay... I gave the toy 4 stars because my cats go CRAZY over it. The one thing you have to reconcile yourself on is that these wands are disposable. The butterflies (whether the old feathery one, or the new plastic ones) are extremely fragile. Wings and parts of wings will snap off in furious cat action (is there any other kind???). The good thing is, even with a partial butterfly, the cats will still be intrigued by it. You can stretch out the usefulness by continuing to use them until all you have is the body. As someone else noted, also be careful playing with your cats. The butterfly is attached by a thin, bare metal wire. It's that wire that gives the toy such a unique bounce and springiness which drives the cats crazy. But it CAN be dangerous. Just be cautious in not letting your cats get entangled in the wire, or otherwise cut by it. Because of this, it's also not a good toy for young children who can't yet be coached in the proper handling of the toy. ... show more

Well made, and molded handle is more comfortable to use than plain plastic tube handles. Connecting the toy took a but to figure out. Both the rope and the toy have a single loop - no tie or clip. Has held up well with daily use.

    • Literally broke in 20 seconds, with no cat help.

I had high hopes for this toy. And it looked good in person. But... fluttering it along, the wings immediately came off. Basically how this is built is, the wire (which is a great idea for the twitchy movements cats like) is fed into the body, which has two prongs. It wraps around the second one. That part of the body also has the antenna. Then the plastic wings go onto the prongs also; they are a single unit with two holes for those prongs. And then another side of the body (which isn't nearly as intricate) goes onto the prongs. But it came off. Instantly. And the parts seem very resistant to glue, so it's not easily fixed. I don't know if mine was more defective than average, but the cats never got a chance to get interested. For the price, not too upsetting, but not worth even a penny given how fast it broke. ... show more

My cats love this toy! I have bought several of these butterfly wands. I do prefer the original feathery fabric that in my mind looked a lot more like a butterfly and seemed to have the right texture. I have received one that had a fully plastic butterfly which my kitties didn’t want to grab or chew as much. I understand the switch though as my kitties would destroy the fabric kind the first time playing. We got pretty good at reconstructing the butterflies with the shredded parts to try and extend the life of the toy. Overall it’s cute and has good movement and my kitties love it, it’s it totally worth it to me. 😻 ... show more

My cat didn’t really take to it but my pit bull/ boxer mix goes nuts for it! I think her spirit animal is a cat. She is definitely a hunter. We go outside and she leaps and flies through the air trying to kill this little plastic butterfly. When she catches it, I try to release the stick from my hand and tell her to “drop it” and hope she doesn’t rip it apart. She’s ripped apart a number of them so far but I’ve used tape and superglue to extend the life when more were out of stock. Now I keep extra ones on hand and out of reach. Update: We're training our dog to use word buttons, and get favorite word is "butterfly." She asks for this toy by name several times a day. At the $4 price, I highly recommend stocking up. These are practically disposable. Keep duct tape available to fix a couple of times but eventually you need to give up and throw it away. Now that the price is $10 I'd wait until it goes back down. ... show more
