pros: -it's a great toy that keeps kitty occupied for a while. she will frequently "ask" to play with it by pawing at it. sometimes she doesn't even try to chase after the wand/tail bit and enjoys just sitting there watching it move. -there's different speeds/modes, and it eventually shuts itself off after about a half hour of play so as to conserve battery life. -it's easy to put together and take apart for storage. cons: -unfortunately it's easy for kitty to pull the wand off the spinning platform, so I occasionally have to reattach it while she's playing. -buying this toy comes with an extra added expense: batteries. Some rechargeable batteries and a charger seems to be the ideal setup, otherwise it feels wasteful to keep buying and discarding them. -it's not the most durable, which explains amazon's caveat that this item is returned often. I broke one of these by tripping over it. I bought another one and it stopped working after a day of use. now I'm on my third one and it *seems* to be holding up, though kitty has bitten the "tail" part off the wand (it still works, but that's too bad). I guess it just depends on whether or not you get a good one, but it's worth it if you do. ... show more

    • My Cat is CRAZY About This Run-Around Interactive Toy
I love this interactive toy called Cat's Meow. My cat goes NUTS over it. Even when she's BORED with it, she still can't resist laying on the floor and having the wand going this way and that bumping into her sleepy little form laying along the edge of the yellow skirt. SO-oooo amusing to me watching this lazy cat! I have noticed that the 'four speeds' -- AREN'T. At least the one I got all four speeds are the same. This is o.k., as we can live with that. Also, the little wand that sticks out; it falls out of the holder more often than I would like. I am considering gluing it in so that won't keep happening. Otherwise this is a terrific toy!!! My cat LOVES it and I love it because she entertains ME...!!! ... show more

This is the best motorized cat toy ever! Our two cats are obsessed with it and still have fun with it after almost a year. The first day the shy one didn’t want to touch it, but after she got over that, both stare at it and grab it and fight with it, and have great fun. They often even sit near it when it’s off and beg us to run it. They’ve managed to yank the wand out from its socket a bunch of times but it’s easy to push back into place, and sometimes they bite a little bit off the end of the red plastic “tail” that sticks out under the edge of the skirt. For the first few months it was fairly quiet when running, without any noticeable motor noises. Mostly I just heard the sounds of the wand brushing on the skirt and a slight “clack“ when it randomly changed direction (the wand also changes direction when blocked, which means it can still move enticingly even when a cat is sitting on the skirt). After about 6 months of using it almost daily, it started to make a scraping or grinding noise which slowly got louder, but which didn’t faze the cats. Then at about 9 months it kind of just conked out. The light still goes on and the wand still moves, but only if absolutely nothing is touching it. Basically it’s acting like the batteries are nearly dead even when I install fresh ones. So we got another one to replace the original. Other than the limited lifetime (which is no big deal considering the joy we get from it) the only negatives are slight. There’s not much difference between the various speeds, and as the batteries wear out (they only last roughly a week if you use it several times a day) the wand doesn’t just slow down, but it also moves a shorter distance before changing direction. (Update: on the second unit we got, as the batteries run down, it just runs for a shorter and shorter time, instead of slowing down and weakening which is what the first one did). Finding replacements for chewed up wands has been a bit of a pain. The ones I found here didn’t fit at all, and although the ones I found on that popular auction site that starts with ‘e’ didn’t quite fit either, it was easy to shave their ends down with a hobby knife to get them to fit in the socket. P. S. I recommend using rechargeable batteries, they and the charger will pay for themselves in a few months. ... show more

    • When it works, it's awesome!
All three of my kitties liked this toy when it worked. I've had it less than a year and it won't respond to the new batteries. When I press the on button, it stays lit for a couple of seconds and then turns off. I think it has to do with the battery housing unit....doesn't seem to know that there are three brand new batteries in it. I've even cleaned the contact points and checked the charges on the new batteries. It's simple busted. Every time I pull out the toy, the cats get excited and then don't understand why I'm not turning it on for them. They've never played rough with the toy either. One just stares at it and watches the other two bat at it. But, they are not kittens and don't play rough with it, so we're not sure why it's failed so soon. I can only recommend this if a year is enough play time for your fur babies. I wish this one was an electrical charged one so that I wouldn't have to deal with the battery issue. ... show more
