  • Try this before replacing expensive parts... worked on 2012 Jeep GC Overland 3.6L 4x4 w/128K miles
I usually don't write reviews. Felt compelled. Hope this reduces some stress and saves you $$. Thanks to other reviewers for helping me too! The Problem(s): 1st, few weeks ago, check engine light came on and I got an oil pressure sensor switch error code. Noticed Jeep lost power at 3K RPM (it wouldn't accelerate beyond 3K RPM when gassing moderately hard). Changed the OPS switch a week ago and error code went away. The same day engine light came back on again and this time it was error code P0420 - Catalyst system below threshold Bank 1. Again RPM would not go much above 3000 when gassing it moderately hard. Only way it would shift gears was to ease back and accelerate slowly. No misfire though. The Solution: I put in 1 can of Cataclean when gas tank was down to 4-5 gallons of gas. Within the 1st 10 miles of driving I could feel the power/acceleration difference and RPM would go up to 5000+ and gears shifted normally. Drove 15-20 miles total and at times accelerated aggressively after the first 10 miles (flushing the system if you will). Then put in 15 gallons of gas. After parking it for a few hours when I restarted, check engine light never came on. So far it's been 2 days and I've driven 100+ miles, engine light still did not come back on and Jeep drives like it used to. Will drive a few hundred miles more and in a week or 2 I'll put in the 2nd can of Cataclean for further cleaning. Note: I think if I had put Cataclean before I changed the oil pressure sensor switch it would have done the job and I'd have saved hundreds on replacing the OPS switch. (You'd think one has nothing to do with the other but I'm almost certain this would have worked and saved me time and money). So if your Jeep/vehicle has similar symptoms as mine then try Cataclean before changing any parts, even if it's the OPS switch error code (unless you're 100% sure the OPS switch is bad). And definitely don't change the O2 sensor(s) or the catalytic converter(s) before trying this. But if your vehicle's condition is further down hill than mine then Cataclean may not work. However, 100% it does not hurt to try this first regardless. I'll post an update if things don't work out. Good luck! ***UPDATE 7/27/24*** Approx. 150 miles after putting in the 1st can, engine light came back on and same power loss around 3K RPM yesterday (26th). I put in the 2nd can and drove 20+ miles. Filled only 7 gallons of gas. Check engine light went off while car was parked and I restarted yesterday. Its now 100+ miles since the 2nd can and Jeep is still okay. When I had Autozone scan the codes yesterday before putting in the 2nd can, this time it said same as before but also said the OPS switch is stuck/failing (I just replaced it with MOPAR OEM switch a week+ ago). But then when the engine light went away that tells me the OPS switch is also fixed?! This is the reason scan error codes must sometimes be taken with a grain of salt! Still hoping this 2nd can will fix it and if not I'll try 2 more cans thereafter as some reviewers had mentioned it took them 3-4 cans. I'm still hopeful as this is no fault of this good product but rather dependent on the severity of the vehicle/parts. Wish I had used Cataclean a lot sooner. Live and learn. :) Will update in a few weeks. 5 stars. ***UPDATE 7/29/24*** After putting in the 2nd can as mentioned above, at around 110 miles driving with the 2nd can - check engine light came back on again (on the 28th). I let the7 gallons of gas I had put in prior to light coming on run out today and low gas light came on. I put in 3 gallons of gas only. Right at the gas station when I started the Jeep check engine light did not come back on, now around 139 miles from the 2nd can and about 280 miles from the 1st can. Yesterday I ordered 2 more cans (when the light was on) that'll come in tomorrow. As of now no engine light (approx. 150 miles from 2nd can). I'll put in the 3rd can tomorrow regardless if the light comes back on or not and post an update in a week. So far so good. ... show more

  • . I am thrilled to share my positive experience with this product
I recently had the pleasure of using Cataclean in my vehicle, and I must say that the results were truly remarkable. • Temporary fix
My car engine light kept coming on along with the traction light. I was told by AutoZone and O’Reillys when they put their diagnostic test on that it was my O2 oxygen sensor Was dirty I was told that this product would help but it was a temporary fix. I had to use four bottles of this product it did work for a while. My engine lights and my traction lights went off but two weeks later my engine light came back on and it is recommended not to exceed four bottles a year of this product. I’ve also found out not only my downstream O2 oxygen sensor was dirty and bad. My Cadillac converter was also filled with smudge and dirt and needed to be replaced. so I had to have my catalytic converter replaced problem solved. ... show more

  • Good stuff@
Read the directions. Then drive for 30 minutes or more to heat up the catalyst converter. I had to reset my engine light 2 times. Engine light did not come back on. I recommend this!

  • Worked — temporarily
My 05 jeep received a 0431 code for bank 2 and after reset would last maybe 50 miles. Vehicle only has 70,000 miles so I’m assuming cats are still good. I used this product as directed adding it after a 20 mile warm up. I then drove it the last 1/4 tank till almost empty. My check E light automatically reset. That lasted 350 miles and the check light came back on. I’ve now replaced the o2 sensors and hoping the problem is rectified. This did not work for me long term however it may for others or may be enough to help pass emissions testing. I didn’t want a temp fix so I’ve moved on. ... show more
