My cats adore this toy and I was worried I wouldn't be able to find it again. SO I had to buy another off of amazon in hopes it was the same one. I was delighted that it is indeed the same toy we got at Petco. I agree with another reviewer that one must lock this toy away if not using it due to possibly swallowing the string. However, those people who have had bad experiences with this toy most likely left their cat unsupervised with it. My cat plays tug of war, but I am very careful of his teeth. He does not chew the string or stick. He just wants it to move. He takes this toy with him everywhere and even feeds it dry food and tries to water it. He also loves my goody hair ties which I would say are more dangerous but they fetch them and bring them right back so that I can toss them for him to get his running in. His sister-cat also loves both toys. Neither of them chews the string on this cat toy, I would say it's a heck of a lot safer than other toys. You just have to have common sense, as another reviewer mentioned. You also just have to be very vigilant and think for your animals because they don't know any better. Just lock the toy up in a drawer that's not easily opened by your cats. As we have figured out, our cats are very intelligent and seem to figure out how to open drawers and cabinets among other things. Many people have the misconception that cats are independent and can think for themselves and that is true while also false. Cats are like babies and can get themselves into trouble and they need us who stands in for their parents to protect them. Stay vigilant and long live our cats. ... show more

I've purchased lots and lots of toys for the cats and this is the only one I've purchased more than once. The first one I bought sometime in the late aughts and the second one in '22. I have one cat who is afraid of this toy, which totally baffles me, but so it is. Everyone else is highly stimulated and gets good exercise from it. It is great for occasions when I don't feel like moving from a comfortable chair and the lasers need to be recharged. If you have a bird hunter it allows them to jump and flip, which is fun to watch and clearly quite fun for them as well. ... show more

My cat has always been anti-toy. If I waved a feather you in front of her, she would just look at it and then look at me like "Really? You are insulting me." Same for other cat toys....ribbon toys, ball tous, laser pointers....zero interest. She's been like this for years. But....I figured I would give it one more shot. Glad I did! She still isn't a big time player, but I can get her entertained and active for 10 minutes a couple times a day....which is a big improvement for her. I don't know what it is....if it's the rainbow pattern or the spirally way it shakes when you move it back and forth, but it's a win! ... show more

My Calico loves this toy! She prefers playing with this one out of all her other interactive toys. She even tries to take it to bed with her. I never let her play with anything unsupervised so I have to hide it in another room when it's time to sleep. She'll meow and look for it for a few minutes until she's tired of searching. Our cat really likes this toy. It's lasted longer than stuffed toys we've tried. The plastic wand seems like it would break easily but it hasn't in over a year. For our cat this is a real winner.
