First off, the company takes painstaking efforts in their packing of the shelves. Beautiful. Very impressed as they were so well packed in different materials, you know they would not be damaged in rough handling. The good: A nice pine wood with quality hardware. They have an “Asian” flair to me and worked well with the contents on the shelves. The Bad: You want to brace them if you stack them as they will not be safe without. Hardwire included. Even braced, there is a small sway. Keep the poundage light and centered if you can. I’ll have my heavier items on the lower unit bottom shelf and the same on the upper. What I like is they don’t look like folding or stackable shelves. The price is a little steep for certain colors. Hint: Newegg has some models at half the price I chose Amazon due to their return policy and hassle free buying. Oh, for any cat owners: beware as the little rubber/plastic nubs in the top of the book shelf seem to attract cats to bite at them. I have three cats and I swear they b-lined to the little black corners and start nibbling on them. I plan on putting something unpleasant on them as they just seem to be drawn to them. Cats. Oh and then there’s the cat jump on the top of the shelf issue which took one of my cats 12 minutes before he jumped from the floor to the top. Just saying… ... show more

This shelf arrived packaged well and in perfect condition. Once I unwrapped it, which was folded flat, and stood it up, the shelves fell right into place without me having to do another thing!. No putting together, no tools needed, easy peasey. The black shelves feel very sturdy and are now filled with hard & soft cover books along with other things the kids use for projects.
