Well, first off I do have a “thing” for Casio watches…G-Shocks as well as their Casio Standards (less costly) line, which this model stems from. How Casio can produce such an amazing watch, and sell it for under 20 bucks, is a mystery to me, but a good one. This AE-1500 is sooo close to the functions and capabilities of many of the G-Shock models costing much more, so it’s almost a no-brainer. In fact, THIS watch has features I’ve never seen on any G-Shock including a very detailed set of alarm functions down to a one time, or monthly by date selection, the likes of which none of my other Casio watches has along with the more typical alarm functions. I dont find a DST feature, however that will become a non issue in 2023 anyway, and until then its quite easy to advance or retard the hour to reflect the last couple of DST events we’ll have to suffer through. Of course the visibility of this watch is self evident….easily the best of any Casio, and the illumination is exceptional and better than nearly every other Casio Illuminator model I’ve seen, save for the DW-291. This is NOT a “Super-Illuminator” mind you, but “just” an Illuminator and the lighting is excellent. Most excellent to borrow a phrase. Yes, it’s a largish timepiece which aids in the visibility, but it wears light and comfortably nonetheless. Casio has put some massive digits in the display and used much of the display without wasted space on lesser messages. Also, and this is a biggie IMO the “pushers” as the buttons are technically called, are large and smooth to use, quite unlike the tiny and hard to use pushers on many other Casio models. So…in a nutshell this is about 85% what a G-Shock is at about 20% (or less) the cost of a G-Shock. Value, value, value. No, it’s not solar powered but the batteries for these types of watches run about $1.25 at most dollar stores, and at ten years out it’s really a non-worry anyway. i’ve been wearing the same G-Shock blue watch for about 10 years now and felt that I wanted something different. I looked at all of the G-Shock watches I found a $300 red one that I wanted. then I came across this watch on Amazon for $20., with my G-Shock once a year I had to pay a repair shop about $30 to replace the battery. so this watch claiming it has a 10 year battery was a great selling point. The display on this new watch is much better than the G-Shock watch. yesterday I wanted to wear my old G-Shock and noticed the display is so much easier to read on this new watch. this watch does not say G-Shock on it but it looks exactly like a G-Shock watch. I think that if I get electrocuted what happens to my watch will be the least of my worries. :) I highly recommend this watch no complaints ... show more

This is almost the perfect watch. It has a decent display with the basics clearly shown. With this watch, simplicity is KING. I like that. In fact, I wish more watches were made with this design model in mind as opposed to all the junk and clutter you typically see on more expensive watches. I took off one star because it has a plastic band that cannot be removed. If they would have designed it so that you could replace the band it would have earned a 5 star rating. Also, the band is made of cheap plastic. That means that your wrist underneath the watch band will break out into a sweat. Well, for $20 it's a fair compromise. I will be ordering several more of these watches simply because the band will not hold up for 10 years of use. In closing, I highly recommend this watch if you like simplicity. I hope that Casio would make a much larger G-Shock version of this watch... say one that's at least 60mm in diameter with a much larger numerical display. Are you listening Casio? ... show more

It is a decent size. if you are older and have trouble seeing small print, then this one is for you. Nice easy to read numbers, the light is an amber color that is bright enough to read the screen without messing with night vision. I have not tried this in water and I'm not in a hurry to test it's durability by dropping it or banging it around. I bought the desert tan color and really like it. ... show more

I've had CASIO products for years. Desktop calculators & especially their timepieces(the wrist-style variety). My last was a G-SHOCK that had a novel gold accented display. That sold me, but the buttons were recessed too much, making settings awkward trying to get a solid button push. Since I've entered my 7th decade, the display has gotten difficult to read. VOILA . . CASIO knows what consumers' need: A larger read-out; king-sized fonts for time-of-day; easier accessed buttons for quick adjustments, all with their dependable spot-on accuracy. I've had it for a week now, and the time has slowed 2 seconds from my bedside atomic clock's settings. ... show more

First off: this is a very large watch. I have a 6 1/2" wrist so it's big on me. But I don't care because the features more than make up for its size. What I really like about this watch: It's a Casio, love the khaki color, keeps great time, easy to read the large display, enough modes for daily use, auto calendar, comfortable strap, buttons that are easy to press, nice backlight easy to read in the dark, Water Resistant to 100 meters and a 10 year battery. I've been wanting this watch for a while now and I must admit although I was very sceptic about the visibility of the dial its totally fine from most angles although you do sacrifice a bit of readability if you choose the negative display. I love my G Shock Casio but my old ass eyes are having more of a hard time reading those teensy weensy numbers on the display. So, I downgraded to a large display Casio that is VERY easy to read. For about 20 bucks, it's a keeper. I'm sure it's nowhere near the durability of my G Shock that I've had for years but I'm not that abusive to my watches anyway. The 10 year battery claim is a bonus ... we'll see if the battery lasts more than 3 years. Overall, I like it and it does for me what I need it to do at an affordable price. ... show more
