This is a nice cash box, though it requires the key to open / close the lid. The other cash box that we purchased has a key to lock / unlock, but when unlocked, there is a button latch to keep the box closed during transport. The outer paper currency compartments are just a bit short for standard US currency, so the bills get jammed into the compartments. A great feature is the covered coin tray. I gave this product 5-stars even with the minor annoyances because the latching cover coin tray is such an awesome feature. This cash box was in perfect condition as I bought it used or rather the original box it came in was a little tethered. But the product itself was unharmed. That's all that mattered! Highly recommend this style cash box as it's very durable, has a key lock (came wth 2 sets of keys), and the best part is the stainless steel spring clips that hold down the bills in each slot & the tiered metal coin tray above with a lid that snaps closed when not in use! I would give it a 4 1/2… I love the fact that the change area has a lid to it so it doesn’t get all over the box in transportation. However when you have the lid open it is sometimes a little top-heavy but it’s the best one we’ve had and we’ve been through about five in the last few years, getting rid of them because they weren’t worth much. Very sturdy, but also very heavy. The arms that hold the cash down are very stiff, with makes them secure, but it's actually difficult to get the cash out quickly. I love the coin holder feature. Box can only be closed by locking it. Would be much better if it could latch and then lock separately.
