Caron Simply Soft yarns are so far my favorite to work with. Since it is acrylic, it is easy care. It soft and knits nicely. I have done several scarves and afgans with this. It may lack the glamour of other yarns but for this weight if yarn, it my favorite to work. I have given several blankets for wedding and baby showers out of various colors. Always well received. Unlike wool, my dog does not insist on trying to chew on it which is also a definite plus. ... show more

    • It smells terrible
I made a large Afghan using Autumn Red, using over 12 skeins. EVERY skein smelled terrible. Almost a sour, mildew kind of smell. I continued with It, thinking that when I washed it, it would disappear. NOPE. I have tried literally EVERYTHING!!! We love the blanket but the smell gets pretty offensive, especially when it gets hot. Has anyone else had this problem? I've ordered other colors but only the Autumn red has the odor. ... show more

This is a nice yarn for the price. I'm not usually a big fan of 100% acrylic, but this is very soft, has a nice feel to it, and the color is fantastic. It's also of course very affordable. It does tend to "squeak" when knitting, but you get that with any acrylic. Overall, you do get your moneys worth with this yarn and its a good option in the acrylic/affordable category ... show more

As a retiree my hobby is crochet ing blankets and throws. I donate them to charities. I make on average 25 a year. I only use Caron Simply Soft yarn because it does not make my fingers sore.

    • Soft when knitted, prone to tangling
Im using this yarn for a scarf for my friend and it's going well so far. The main issue I've run into was when I was rolling it into a ball - the yarn was getting very tangled and hard to work with. It's very soft when knitted, im using needles size 9 (5.25mm).
