For informational purposes, I am white and my daughter is biracial and my son is white. My daughter has very dry hair no matter how much product I put in it or how long I leave in conditioner, once it dries it gets all frizzy. I bought this on the recommendation I get a scalp oil for her because she was going to get braids for the first time and I used it once on her and her hair stayed how it looks wet when it was dry. It moisturized her hair beautifully plus smells great and even after a full day of playing at school and outside her hair had perfect curls and no frizz. She would never wear her hair down before because she doesn’t like how it looks when it puffs up and gets all frizzy, now she wears her hair down almost everyday and loves it. I also used this on my 6 month old white son because he has cradle cap and almost no hair. I’ve used just a drop once a week after a bath and after only 2 weeks his cradle cap is almost completely gone and now that it’s gone you can see more of his fuzzy little hair and he looks like he actually has hair now. I just used it for the first time tonight because I’ve been getting these red areas on my scalp that I’ve never had before so I will update if it helps that or if it even works in my hair texture or makes my hair too greasy. Great and light and smells great but not too strong, I looove all things Carol's daughter! I got this for the whole family! Need to buy more, even the teen boys are using it now... makes their hair look so healthy and feels so soft... and they like brushing their hair now Woo hoo!!

Use this oil in my children’s hair and my husband uses it in his beard. It smells really good and it gives the hair a nice Sheen and keeps the scalp greasy and moist makes the hair look shine and healthy.     • Awesome but the smell is very peppery
First, I love it because my scalp gets so dry. But- and for some it may be a big but - the smell is strong and very peppery like your head will smell like black pepper. I use it before bed and wash out in the morning and viola no more dry itchy scalp.

    • Not for me - Mostly the smell
Update: I’m just going to return this. I can’t get the smell out of my hair even after washing it and putting product in. Original Review: I occasionally use some other Carol’s products and like them, specifically the black vanilla scented products. I think this oil is intended for more coarse hair textures. My hair is thick, wavy-curly and in the middle of coarse and thin. I put it on my scalp with wet hair. The directions say not to rinse, but it felt so oily I knew I needed another wash and rinse. What bothers me most is the smell. It does have a perfume smell but it’s overpowered by the castor and olive oil smells and I find the mixture of all these smells bothersome and kind of nauseating. I’m going to keep the product and use it because I feel like it will help with my severely dry scalp, but I’m going to use it as a leave-in for x-minutes and wash-out treatment. I don’t see myself buying this particular product again… Mainly due to smell. ... show more
