Molded rubber toe bumper for extra abrasion resistance. Storm defender waterproof breathable membrane is designed to be completely waterproof. I deliver Oil and Propane in Northern New England and I am trudging through the snow and rain and ice on a daily basis and these boots keep my feet fairly warm (definitely warm enough, I do wear Darn Tough wool socks) and dry. I have seen reviews of people complaining about the locking eyelets for the laces and also the back of the boots ripping apart. That has not been my experience. I think those people are not unlacing the boots enough when they remove them and they might explain the back ripping? Like I said I deliver fuel so I’m not digging ditches so I guess if you are digging ditches maybe they wouldn’t perform as well as they have for me but I find that they are rugged and can handle anything I’ve experienced and all while being comfortable for 12 hour days 6 days a week. The break in period was minimal and I didn’t need to treat them with anything for water proofing. The toe box is roomy but not to much and it’s a composite toe so you don’t need to worry about your toes getting crushed. If I had to pick something that I didn’t like it would be that my ice cleats barely fit but they do fit. I wouldn’t wear these in warmer months they are made for cold and snowy/ice conditions. These are very comfortable and kept my feet warm in a 9 hour shift on a 5 degree weather. Update- started wearing January 22 2025, I have to say these boots are my most comfortable, cozy and lightest work boots I own that are field compliant, and keeps my toes and feet warm in 10+- degree Temps.     • Solid, warm, comfortable boot.

Using these boots for work, they took some time to loosen up and get comfortable. Initially, the heel was tight and hard to get my foot in. After a little over a week of wear, they broke in and became easier to get into. Now they are comfortable, a little wide in the toe box, but there is room for nice wool socks when winter really kicks in. The warmth is great. Nice and cozy in cool weather, and good in cold conditions. I haven't been able to use them in proper snow yet, but in <3" they kept me dry and warm. I got some boot gaiters to wear with them as well, as 10" will only help so much. Solid construction with good stitching. I'm a little nervous of the laces they came with, as they are very thin and light. But replacements wouldn't be too hard if needed. They've held up so far, and the attachment points seem solid. Pretty happy with these boots overall. There keep my feet warm for quite awhile in the extreme cold. I work outside for about half the day and me toes stay warm for about 3-4 hours and even after they don’t get super cold. Way better than any other boots I’ve had including muck arctic sport. The only complaint I have is they do rub on my ankles if I’m doing a lot of manual labor for an extended period of time but not horrible. The other small complaint is they are bulky and hard to lace up because the laces don’t slide through the eyelets very well. They definitely aren’t going to get loose on you. They seem to be pretty solid and good quality. If you’re tired of your feet freezing and hate muck style boots like me then these are a pretty good investment. ... show more

This is the first pair I have had of these and I had no clue what I was missing. They look big and bulky but are some of the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Well worth the money. Great traction in the snow and shoveling sidewalks in 4 inches of snow and 0 temperatures my feet didn’t freeze like other winter boots I have had. ... show more

These are high quality boots. No break in time needed. Comfortable right out of the box. Nothing cheap about these boots. I would rate the slip resistance a 7or 8 on soapy or greasy floors. Extra room in the toe box to accommodate two pairs of sox comfortably. Which are probably needed in temperature below freezing. Somewhat snug to put on and off but not a big issue. ... show more

These boots are super comfortable and great for outdoor work in the winter. They are waterproof and well insulated. My husband works outdoors all year long, in electrical construction. He needs a safe work boot that is waterproof and for the winter months, insulated. He says these are the most comfortable work boots he has ever had. Comfortable work boots are hard to find, so he asked me to write this review for him, to recommend these boots for other men who work outdoors. These boots are horrible considering how much they cost! I haven't had these boots for 9 months (not even a full year!) and they are almost "JUNK"! The the soles are separating from the upper part of the bootand, the fabric part is shredding and the shoe laces popped after having them for about 3 months! They claimed it was a thousand grams of insolation but that's 100% "NOT TRUE"! I could buy about two or three pairs of really decent boots for the $200 they want for ONE pair of these Carhartt boots! My feet stayed cold in the winter and now the boots look like poop! There is a lot of GREAT boots out there that can do what these Carhartt boots can do, and more! Don't buy the "NAME" ; buy the quality. Learn from "MY" mistake! I'd say their Carhartt boots are worth about $60 TOPS; not $200! I'm in my 9th month with these boots and look at how they are now! Today (08/25/2020) I just received my order from Amazon. I ordered a pair of Sketchers work boots (those are the boots you see me wearing in the photo next to these UNRELIABLE carhartt CRAPS that I didn't even have for a complete year!). Once the fabric on the carhartt boots get the "tiniest" hole, IT'S ALL OVER; it continues to tear until you're walking around looking like a total bum on the street! ... show more
