I bought this to take on vacation to a rental that has a gas fireplace. It is small, batteries are easily installed, will certainly pack well, has an easy to read display, and hopefully we won’t hear the alarm. The only reason that I did not give a 5 star rating is that the siren is not super loud.

We have a propane stovetop in the kitchen. We do (sometimes) worry about line leaks, since outdoor propane storage tank pressures can rise during Florida hot summers. This unit is small (almost tiny) and fits almost anywhere. Testing the unit using our outdoor propane grill, it does sound off. If an emergency device works, it is worth the pruchase. I misread the title and thought it was for carbon & gases but once I received and read the box it is only for carbon. Nothing was wrong with it but I couldn't use it is all.

    • Small, convenient and loud!
I like this much better than the plug-in variety we used to have. They take up a socket and are kind of obtrusive. However, this little guy can go in the smallest of places. I like the digital readout as well. Easy to install batteries and very easy to mount on a wall, but we have it just sitting in the corner of our kitchen and that's just fine too. I haven't had the occasion to make the alarm go off, but I tested it by burning some paper nearby and it registered about 30 ppm or so. Good buy!!! ... show more

it is small and compact and can be just placed on a shelf for your convenience, no need to actually hang it. Hopefully i will never have to hear its alarm, though it does have a testing system that allows you to check if its working. The only thing I regret is that it is only for carbon monoxide not natural gas. ... show more
