Description

The Canon EOS Rebel 2000 is an affordable, lightweight, andfull- featured automatic 35mm SLR for both beginning and advancedamateur photographers. It offers a host of special modes for specificshooting situations, including full auto, manual, night scene, portrait, landscape, and more. It also has shutter-speed priority andaperture priority modes--although most users will inevitably leave thecamera in full auto mode a majority of the time and the cameraperforms very well that way. Just remember that the empty rectanglesymbol on the mode dial is for full auto. Some other basic features include an impressive seven-point autofocussystem, LCD panel with extensive information display, three exposuremetering modes (evaluative, partial, and centerweighted), autoexposure bracketing, a multiple exposure function, and depth-of-fieldpreview. The autofocus system is incredibly responsive, and includesseven focusing points that can be set individually for super creativeshooting. In other words, using the LCD panel as a guide, you can setthe camera to automatically focus on the far right focus point (or anyof the other points) so your main subject doesn't have to be in themiddle of the frame to be in focus in a snap.In fact, most settings can be adjusted in creative ways on the Rebel2000, like the exposure level, which can be set to overexpose orunderexpose up to two full stops for tricky lighting situations whereyou might want to fool the camera's metering system. It also has asmall, built-in pop-up flash, plus a hot shoe for an additional flashunit. Overall, we found this camera to be smartly designed with anattractive look and a comfortable feel. From the Manufacturer The EOS Rebel 2000 is Canon's newest entry-level 35mm SLR camera, featuring a variety of enhancements at an attractive price point comparable to that of its predecessor, the EOS Rebel G. Sporting an elegant new exterior design, the sleek EOS Rebel 2000 gives photographers unprecedented creative control, including 7-point autofocus, 35-zone AE metering and a variety of other improvements. With its convenient built-in retractable flash and 11 versatile shooting modes, the EOS Rebel 2000 lets you get great photos of vacations, sporting events, landscapes, portraits and more. Smaller and lighter than ever before, the EOS Rebel 2000 incorporates a full range of basic features including depth-of-field preview, scale-metered manual exposure and 10 other shooting modes. Advanced features include a choice of evaluative or partial metering patterns, AE lock, Auto Exposure Bracketing, multiple exposure and more. The EOS Rebel 2000 is also fully compatible with all EF lenses and EOS Speedlites, including Canon's latest EX-series with E-TTL, FE Lock and High-Speed Sync modes for incredible flexibility in creative flash photography.Fully automatic 35mm AF SLR with retractable built-in flash.Smaller and lighter than ever before, with faster AF, quiet operation and many other improved functions.High-speed selectable 7-point autofocus system linked to 35-zone metering system for available light and flash.Supports advanced flash metering system features including E-TTL, FE Lock and High-Speed Sync modes with EX-series Speedlites.Full range of basic features including remote control socket, depth-of-field preview, scale- metered manual exposure and 10 other shooting modes.Creative controls include a choice of evaluative or partial metering patterns, AE lock, Auto Exposure Bracketing, multiple exposure and more.

  • Arrived in Mint Condition
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I was totally pleased with this purchase. Mine came ahead of schedule and was carefully packaged. I was astounded by the condition of the camera. It looks like a brand new one! Not a scratch anywhere. It looks like it had been stored and never used. And it works great. Every feature including autofocus works as it should. For a camera that hasn't been made in 20 years, this was truly an amazing piece of equipment. It also came with 2 brand new batteries and instructions on a CD. Worth every dollar! ... show more

  • One of my best purchases in years
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I had an inkling that I would really enjoy film photography. I'm old enough that the majority of my childhood was captured on film, but young enough that I didn't really use a film camera much because of how good digital cameras were by the time I hit high school. I decided to pick this up because of the price and thought it would be fun. Spoiler alert, it is. The condition was really solid, not perfectly pristine but clean and perfect function. It has a lot of features that make it very easy for beginners to use. You can snap pictures like a digital camera, and they'll mostly turn out great. In hindsight, having learned much more photography in general since I bought this, the camera really does have an impressive set of features beyond what a beginner would appreciate (like exposure comp, auto bracketing, multiple exposures, dof preview, etc). That combined with how easy it is to use as a total novice, it's really an every man's camera that anyone could get and get value from. Final bonus, it's really light which is convenient. The only thing that I feel I outgrew as I've progressed as a hobby photographer is that my preferences have moved towards older, more mechanical camera that don't have nearly the same level of automated features as that contributes a little to the fun for me ... show more

  • The camera I received did not work
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
The media could not be loaded. Film would not load and the shutter would go off on its own multiple times whenever I would do anything, if I opened the door to attempt to load the film it would go off, If I switched the settings it would go off, took the lenses off it went off. Only time I didn’t go off was when I opened the battery compartment, but would the go off the second I close it. Never was able to see if any of the features the claimed in the description were true since I was never able to get it to work. ... show more

  • Good First Camera and More
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This is my first time with a film camera. When I started needing a camera, they had invented the relatively inexpensive digital camera. But there were things that a digital camera lacks, for one, quality printed photos for sharing with friends and family. I too got "suckered" in by Amazon with this camera being offered in my Gold Box. ;) Got to love that implulse buying. But after having it for a couple of days and getting my first roll of film back, I see that it's a great camera. The sharpness of close-up shots is really good, and I LOVE the auto-focus feature. It's good for when you're taking pictures of wildlife, and they don't hold their position forever waiting for you to take the picture. I also really like the pop-up flash and auto-light metering. It makes it really nice, not having to think if you have enough light for the picture to turn out right. All in all, it's been a good camera so far. I recommend it to anyone looking for a beginner SLR 35mm camera. It's easy to use, lightweight, and it takes pretty good pictures. ... show more

  • This camera is Great!
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I had been searching Amazon for a camera for about a year and had decided on a camera to get. But then one night I was searching through amazon again and came across the rebel 2000 and bought it that night. The design was my first concern when deciding on what to get, I have bigger hands so little cameras are hard for me to deal with. While this camera is not a HUGE one it is just the right size for me and I love it. The shutter button is in a great spot to. Other cameras i have had in the past have had the button right on the top of the camera, not this one, they put the button where the finger would naturally fall. Inturn making my pictures a lot less blurry from not haveing to move my finger to press the shuttter button. This is definetly a camera for a beginning professional photographer. You can set the camera at manual or total auto, which is great. There are many pre-set settings if your not a professional photographer, but if you are they are all pretty much there. I will definetly be recomending this camera to anyone who is looking into buying a good one. ... show more

  • Nice camera, but expensive
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This camera is a quality product and takes excellent pictures, especially in outdoor lighting. However, at the cost, I can't give it an exceptional rating. I use this camera to take action sports photos. If you're close to the action, the camera does a good job. But, $400 seems so expensive to me, even if that is what the market will bear. ... show more
