  • Works great!
Size: 30 Amp Voltage Protector
Works perfect. I was concerned about some of the reviews but I had nothing bad works perfect it's been in Sunshine, rain and freezing Temps with no issues. Only on one camp spot did it do protection shutoff and breaker was set also on the pole, would it have damaged the camper who knows but having the protection is always a good thing. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Please don't waste your money!!
Size: 50 Amp Voltage Protector
In just over a year ours failed, not while protecting us from a surge, but simply because an internal relay stopped working. Problem 1: At 1:30 in the morning (during an intense heat wave we have been facing in Texas) our RV's air conditioners both stopped suddenly, waking us up. After resetting the pole breaker on the nearly brand new pole we are plugged into and noticing how none of our neighbors were without power, we had partial power, but still no ACs. Frustrated, I went back out to investigate. It was then that I found the problem, the Camco 50 amp Power Defender. The L2 Relay light was on but the L1 light was off. As a technical service advisor of many years, I knew there is no situation where the unit should intentionally only pass through one phase of a split phase supply, and sure enough when I smacked the unit (ancient Arthur Fonzarelli secret) the L1 relay closed, proving the relay was hanging up. After removing the unit and plugging our RV in directly everything has been working fine for days, demonstrating the Camco 50 amp Power Defender was not protecting us from a problem, it was the problem. Problem 2: It is worth noting, when I went to unplug our formerly impeccable RV plug from the Camco Power Defender, I found the plug almost impossible to remove. We had to use a butter knife to separate the two plugs, and when we did we saw that our RV plug was now corroded and weathered from just one year of being plugged into the Camco device. Please note, our RV is from 2006, and the plug looked like new before we started using the Camco product, but because of their bad design, our plug was corroded and stuck inside the Camco plug. The typical RV power base sits just high enough off of the dirt that the Camco 50 Amp Power Defender makes your expensive RV plug sit right on the ground where rain, ice, snow, dirt and every other corrosive force of nature can find their way onto your expensive RV plug and begin corroding it after 15 years of it being sheltered by rationally designed RV power outlet covers. Camco did not think about this, and I trusted the reviews, and purchased much to my regret. But the design of their product caused my RV plug to degrade more in one year than it had in the prior 15 years without a "Power Defender". So, unless you want to prematurely age your RV power plug, we recommend you look for a different solution to the surge threat. Problem 3: Seeing no time period mentioned under the warranty information on the Amazon product page for the Camco 50 amp Power Defender, I reached out to Camco. After speaking to a nice customer service representative about my problem, she said I was going to have to talk to a technical support rep. We exchanged cordial pleasantries before she transferred me, and suddenly, without any ringing, holding, or notice, I was in a deep dark voicemail box with no assurance of exactly who I was to leave a message for, describing to no one the problems I had with Camco's product. After leaving a message that I don't really expect to hear back about, I looked for a way to send an email, and found a very general form on their website and sent off my contact info. I will try directly emailing them one other way, but if this review never gets an update, please know that my wife and I wasted hundreds of dollars and all we have to show for our purchase is a corroded RV power plug and a giant yellow and black paper weight with a faulty relay. ... show more

  • This product works quite well.
Size: 30 Amp Voltage Protector
We got this product to protect our camper’s electrical system when we hook up at some of these old campgrounds. We have used it several times and it works great. We plug it in first thing as it takes awhile to warm up and do its test on the outlet. There is an audible click and the lights indicate the results. It’s very straightforward panel lets you know if its safe to connect to the outlet. It is quite heavy and seems to be built well. I gave it 4 stars only because the color is super bright which will probably keep you from forgetting it when your breaking camp, but it also makes it quite visible for all the sketchy folks who might want to steal it. They have a loop where a cable lock can be fed thru to help prevent theft, but the diameter of the cable has to be pretty small to feed through the hole. It would be fairly easy to cut a thin bike cable lock to steal it. If we are in questionable surroundings we do the test and remove it either when we leave the camp site for any length of time or when we are sleeping. I know that this unit was meant to protect the electrical when there are surges or other changes to the outlet but I would rather sleep well or have a nice hike then to walk up or wake up and be angry that some thief took it. If they can do a little more improvements like making the loop bigger and the color less obvious I would have nothing bad to say about it. ... show more

  • Works Great !!
Size: 50 Amp Voltage Protector
We purchased one in 2017 and used it continousley seeing that were full time RV`ers. Recentley at a new park we were staying at, had been there for over 2 mo. with no electricity issues. One day the power went out, thought it was the 50A breaker belonging to the park. It was not the breaker, even though it tripped. There 50A plug blew out, and burnt one leg on our surge protector. They replaced their plug, and bought us a new surge protector due to the damage. While waiting for the new one to arive we were still having electrical issues, triping the 50A breaker. When it arived I installed it. It worked as described. When I informed the park that there breaker was still tripping and they saw the surge protector on, and found out what they have to pay for it . They said to remove it until they get to electrical issue corrected. I informed them that if it was not there then they may end up with a much bigger expense to replace electrical componets in the 5th wheel. This item works as described. Very happy with it even if I feel it is overpriced. ... show more

  • Good so far, could be improved
Size: 30 Amp Voltage Protector
Our unit has been in use for about 6 months and has performed as expected. One area it could be improved is that it doesn’t detect an open ground. We came across a pedestal that had an open ground and the unit let the power through. Our motor home transfer switch was smart enough to detect the ground issue and stopped the power connection. Seems like an easy feature to add and would increase safety also. ... show more

  • Good product
Size: 30 Amp Voltage Protector
I had bought another brand previously but returned it due to flimsy craftsmanship. This one is much better. Product is solidly constructed and plug blades are long and thick enough to make good contact and stay in place.
