  • Cables seemed to be fine but I did not use them.
Style: Pro ModFlex 8-pin (Asus & Seasonic) Color: Black
TL;DR: if you want custom colored cables to match a desired theme and/or you believe cable mod cables are easier to route and manage in your PC case, go for it. If you're not going for a particular theme and have lots of space, or even little space to route cables (I thought cable management in my Air Mini was easier without the cable mod cables), then you could save money and just spend a little time working on your cable management skills. You can achieve a clean build by zip tying multiple PCI cables together to make "one" long, flat cable that terminates at each end with the three connectors for the PSU/GPU, and you can place multiple ties along the cable to tame the shape and direction. First, I'd like to address the splice. I've seen other reviews dogging on the product because of it. I actually was concerned at first, but if you look at the end of the stock cables on the PSU end (the end you plug to the PSU), they have the full 8 wires running to it, but the actual connectors going into the PSU are missing two (like they're just empty where you look inside the connectors whereas in the other 6 you can see something for the PSU to interface with). The cable mod cables only have 6 wires on the PSU end, and then there's a splice or two along the way to the PCI/component connection side to make 8 as needed to plug into your hardware. They simply don't run wires to the 2 blank/empty ones I mentioned on the PSU side of the stock PSU cables. My specific power supply is listed as compatible with these cables and I don't think anything would happen if I had used them. Maybe I'm wrong, but the cables are similar in the way I've described. Besides, if you have an RTX 30xx card, you should be undervolting it to get the extra degrees lower temperature and possibly even slightly underclocking it so it's not constantly boosting to the skies and running high 70s/low 80 degrees C. My card is rated a TDP of 380 W and I can achieve an average of 230-250 W and 60-68 C average with my setup when gaming for 3-4 hours on highest settings and a 2k monitor, so I don't think the cable would have any issue delivering enough power to the GPU if I had used it. On to my next point, I didn't use any of the five cables I bought. I found them to be taking up more space in my case than if I just zip tied three of the flat, stock PCI cables together and ran them like that. The braided cables on this product look fine, but I think they're thicker, altogether and overall, than just using the stock cables. Needless to say, cable mod cables are not going to make your cable management skills any better simply by being what they are. I routed all of my stock cables fine, with some time and care taken to which order the cables were routed. I like a neat and tidy cable area in my case, but I don't care for a super clean, themed cable setup where my cables are out of sight. These cables didn't do anything for me to make cable management any easier, but that's in my case. Ultimately, if you're gonna buy cable mod cables, the best option if you can afford it would be to go custom. Get an idea what theme colors you want and how long you want the cables to be since you can have them made to a length you specify on their website. Be prepared to pay a premium if you do that. If your case or you yourself feel that cable mod cables are easier to fit and route in a case, go for it. I did not find this to be a necessity with my case. ... show more

I like everything about these cables! The only real negative is their price especially if you need a lot of them.

  • Clean replacement PSU cables
Style: Pro ModMesh Kit (Corsair Yellow/AXi/HXi) Color: Carbon
When it came to the point I had to make a new personal rig for myself, I watched plenty of build videos. A lot has changed since the last time I made a gaming PC. Hard drives got much smaller, coolers got more advanced, and motherboards and cases got way better. After watching several reviews I noticed everyone seemed to have sleeved PSU cables. After some research here we are. I used these replacement cables on a corsair HX850i. Please go to the cable mod website and make SURE you're ordering the correct replacement cables for your power supply or the results could be very bad and you'd be liable for it. Also when making this purchase, make sure the seller on amazon is cablemods USA. The cables look clean, they have adjustable combos on them to adjust the tightness of the cable at certain points. Probably could've used a few more included combs or had some more pre-installed to make the cable cleaner throughout. Instead you can make the front portion of the cable and some of it behind the case clean, but the furthest parts behind your case will get a tiny bit messy. Nothing to worry about you'd be zip-tying/velcro strapping them behind your case for some nice cable management. While these cables make your build look beautiful, I found them to be a little bit stiff. They were a challenge to get right for me personally - but this can vary from case to case. My main issue with this product is the poor labeling. It's most likely assumed that this product is for experienced builders but there's users like me who want a clean look and research far enough to get the right product only to be left with cables that have no labels, compared to the power supply provided cables which are properly labeled on one side (the one going into the PSU) which makes building much quicker. There was one cable that was labeled, but only one that I saw. I don't see why there wouldn't be simple one sided labeling on the cables like (PSU-CPU) indicating that's your CPU POWER cable, The cpu power cable has a certain look to it which can make it easily identifiable to an expert - but to a newbie it will take a little bit of back and fourth comparisons to get it right. Besides the labeling, all the cables came in a nice bag and the product works as intended. Clean look, no issues. Plenty of extra cables. The only down side is the price - but obviously work went into getting the cables to be like this so it's acceptable as labor. Thanks cable mods for the product, I hope in the future you can add some labeling to the cables - or better yet, just label the bags that they come in. ... show more
