Over the years, hundreds of incandescent C7s and C9s drove up our California electricity bill which is umpteen times higher than other states. Our Christmas tree was baking under the heat of 125 C7s. Even so, I was very reluctant to switch to LEDs because the ones I saw had blues that looked purple and the lights were all dim. My husband researched and found these lights and we are now on Wintergreen LEDs—sorry, PG&E! I am fooled by how realistic they are to incandescent bulbs! The lights are bright and true to their colors! BLUE IS BLUE! Red is a crisp red, not orangey. Orange is vibrant. Green has a nice bright glow, unlike other dull Christmas lights. Wintergreen’s Amazon store has a lot of replacement bulbs packs that feature colors like gold which were difficult to find as an incandescent bulb, plus twinkle lights in every color!!! Wintergreen also has pink and purple for those that decorate their homes for Valentine’s Day (if that’s your thing). Quality is top-notch! Our neighbor left our basement door open because she wanted a place for a feral cat to sleep. Pfft. All of the outdoor Christmas stuff showed evidence of dewy mornings. The C9s looked great—void of any rust or electrical issues! My kids could be better at handling the lights. They yank, drag and drop them on the floor and driveway. My 7YO girl stepped on a bulb. It did not break and the socket was undamaged. I can only imagine how much more she would have cried if anything broke. This is our second year with the lights and they are doing very well. The lights are up the day after Thanksgiving to the weekend after New Year’s. The C9s run for eight hours a night. The C7s are on from dawn until after midnight (my husband and I have different sleep schedules). We have only had to replace a single C9 out of hundreds of bulbs. To create light strands with a mix of opaque, solid and twinkle lights, we bought a variety of light strands (multi solid, multi opaque, multi twinkle), a couple light strands sans bulbs and a few replacement bulb boxes. Now that we have reliable C9 LEDs that can be seen from a distance we are going to put a Christmas tree of lights on the back of the house—three stories tall! ... show more

They are sturdy enough to stand up to the rigors of the season without breaking. The color is suffused into the plastic so there will be no paint flaking. They are very bright and light weight. I am very happy with them.

These lights are large, very bright and the bulbs are very durable. During last night's storm here at the Southern NJ shore, I discovered that they truly are waterproof, too. It was the hardest rain I have ever seen and these OptiCore lights handled it easily. These bulbs are Christmas lights perfection. Large, bright and colorful! You do have to screw them all separately into each socket but it’s really simple and quick. Beautiful colors that are bright and really can be easily seen from the street. Already planning on buying more to replace old lights.

    • Great Vintage Look and Brightness
These are great in that they have brass sockets and can replace bulbs just like the old C9 from decades ago! The colors are so close to vintage and bright! They use about .84 watts each so 100 strand is like an 84 watt Bulb - it is great! Sadly they are expensive :(

Great product! I've replaced all my "normal" grade LED's on my 18 foot blue spruce that the neighborhood always compliments with these. We're on the corner, so folks see it going down the main drag. I was replacing about two strings of lights almost every year, and was fed up with their so-so quality. I bit the bullet and purchased these lights. I combined red, green and white bulbs and have gotten more compliments than ever. Since they are a commercial grade, I expect them to pose no problems. Bulbs are individually removable and have a thick shell. They are BRIGHTER than any other LED I've owned, and the tree is twice as visible than before. Yes they're expensive, but will save my time and aggrevation in the years to come. They have a three season warranty. A great investment. ... show more
