No unruled margins. It's the same journal I have ordered multiple times. Very happy it's back. Will keep ordering this in the future. ORIGINAL POST: I have ordered this journal (MJ5-4792) seven times in the past going back to 2013. I use it everyday at work. Until now I would have considered this a 5 star product. The most recent order (8/31/16) however has changed my opinion. The new page design doesn't work for me at all. There are fewer ruled lines per page. I preferred the thinner lines so I could get more writing per page. Also there is now a 1" un-ruled margin. The old version had no un-ruled margins. Again, that means much less writing space for me per page than the old version. The un-ruled margins may work for some people but it's wasted space for me. I will start looking for another product. If CR Gibson sells the old version I will continue to buy that and change my rating to 5 starts. It would have been nice for them to use a different model number if they were going to make this kind of change. I click "buy again" on Amazon for items that I like, but this is now a different product. They should include a picture of the new page design on the Amazon product page. I have included my own photo which shows the old MJ5-4792 on the left and the new MJ54792 on the right. ... show more

I have purchased this journal multiple times, because I loved it. I'm very picky about the lines in my journals due to sensory issues and the way I hold my hand when I write. I was so glad that I had finally found a journal that suited my needs. Well...for some reason they have changed the journal for the worse, but forgot to update the item description. I've submitted a picture of the old journal (in a different color, but the old journal in black has the exact same lines as the brown one shown) and the new journal side by side. What happened??? This is incredibly disappointing. The item photos show the old lines and the description even states that there are 32 lines per page. There ARE 32 lines in the old version, but in the one I received today there are only 24 and there is WAY too much space in between them. It's wide-ruled. 🤢 If you're going to change your item, why would you not at least update the product description so customers would know it has changed? And who made the decision to ruin this item??? I know I sound like a total Karen, but I bought this journal because I can't use a journal if the lines aren't the right size, and this one was always right. Not only was the item I received nothing like described, but I literally cannot use it. I'm very disappointed, and my hunt for a journal with reasonably-sized lines continues. 😔 ... show more

These are durable books that look nice and are well-stitched. I’m a pastor and I use these to write out all of my sermons. There are exactly 240 pages in both copies I have purchased. Now that the first one is almost full the second one is in use. They have held up to weekly and often daily use. Using the Micron 01 pens the off-white/cream colored pages are easy to write on and show the colors vividly. Once they are broken in they lay quite flat. I’ve not used the pocket in the back so I’m not able to comment on its functionality or durability. I will say that it looks like it would be awkward getting things in and out of it with ease. The back cover would have to be held back completely flat as the pocket is only 1/4” smaller than the back cover. I just don’t have a need for it. ... show more

I have been ordering this journal for quite a while (I have 6 of them now) and previously, I loved the product. it was very nice and high quality. Now, the most recent one I received is different from the ones I got previously. The outside looks the same, but the inside pages are cheap and the line spacing is larger. I would not recommend this journal to anyone. ... show more

Initially this is a good looking journal. I use it daily and write in it with a fountain pen. I find that the ink from the pen does bleed through the paper a little. My biggest frustration is the difficulty I'm having with the pages laying flat. I am also noticing that as I use it, the cover does not keep its' shape as well as I would like; it is starting to warp slightly up on the edges. I have seen what look to be better quality journals for sell at a local bookstore for a better price. I probably won't purchase this again. ... show more

I have used these journals for daily personal use for years. They’re the only journals I use (I just bought two because I’m 1/3 through my 2018 one already and I’m always paranoid they’re going to stop making these). They’re affordable and feel like quality. The binding is strong. The 5x8 size is perfect for writing in bed without it feeling too cumbersome or feeling like you have no place to rest your hand. I love the ribbon marker, the band closure to keep it shut, and the pocket for notes or photos in the back. The ivory pages are the perfect color—not too bright white so it doesn’t hurt your eyes to look at it too long (I write for a long time sometimes). I use Pentel RSVP ballpoint pens only and they work great on these pages. No smudging, no bleeding, no skipping. In all, I’m in love with these journals. I’ve considered Moleskins because of their reputation, but I just can’t be pulled away from these! ... show more

I really like this leather journal, especially the envelope type pouch in the back, a great place to stash concert tickets, money, special letters, etc.. I also like the fact that it's genuine leather (I lazered my sons name in it since it's a gift for him). It is lined and has enough pages to last. My one disappointment was the size. It's quite small. Ultimately it's perfect for my son, he hates to write, but I wanted him to have a place to record special experiences and moments of his travels and life abroad.
