I was unsure of buying this desk because of some of the reviews however it was the only desk online that I liked. It arrived and I am extremely pleased with the desk, hutch, filing cabinet and bookcase. Yes I bought it all. It looks amazing in my office. It arrived well packaged and protected. Putting it together will take some time. It took me 2 days to put all 4 pieces together because you just get tired of it and need to do other things. The instructions are simple enough and clear. You MUST have a electric or battery powered screwdriver because there are just so many screws it would be nearly impossible to do it by hand. One piece (the bottoms of the filing cabinet drawers) did not arrive in the box. I contacted the company on the box, they were very courteous and sent the missing pieces directly no questions asked. So it's a pretty solid, nice piece. It's obviously MDF from the price. As long as you have reasonable expectations for the price, you should be very happy. Not many desks with hutch for $450 to your door. A few things you should definitely be aware of:notes: Instructions: Pretty good (pieces are nicely labeled) but they could be clearer and more specific. With that said, I didn't have much trouble moving through the steps. Expect about 4 hours for the bottom half and another hour or two for the hutch. It says you need two people but I had zero problems building it myself. Definitely get a cordless screwdriver. As with any furniture, glue edges/joints together as with any furniture. It will transform how strong it is and keep it from becoming wobbly. Negatives/Design flaws: Main reason for 4 stars is the left glass drawer. There are no shelves. This isn't 1997 where we have giant PCs. There should at least be a shelf option, even if they don't pull out (which they should). I'm probably going to make myself some shelves for it. It's otherwise a completely worthless open space. The shelf above that worthless space should definitely pull out. So now you're left with only two drawers, which for me, isn't enough. I'd honestly rather have nothing there and more leg room than that. It's worthless. Other nit pick is the bottom of the drawers is basically a strong piece of cardboard. If it gets a little wet and/or has something heavy, it's going pop out or rip. That should really be a piece of wood/MDF or something more robust. ... show more

For the people complaining about hte instructions - it took my boyfriend and I around a day to build this desk, including ALL of the details on it. And it was so incredibly worth it. That's not due to the instructions. Overall, they were pretty good. Here's a hint when you get to the backing though (hutch as well as the two lower cabinets): use a hammer to drive the nails in. You'll know the page I mean; it has like 64 nails you need to screw in, and they dont' screw well. We just hammered them in and hoped we didn't wake the neighbors. Overall, I think the people complaining about bowing didn't read the weight allotments on the hutch itself. You can only put 5-10lbs on the upper shelves, and I think 10 or so on the lower ones. The top SHOULD NOT have anything of great weight on it. If you do opt to do this, I'd recommend mounting it to the wall yourself (the instructions don't require it). Anyone who's hung shelves has done this before :) I put the hutch mostly together myself, but youll definitely want someone to help you with this. It's a desk, after all! I think the most confusing part of the instructions were how to hang the door and all of that properly, but once we figured that out we were fine. It looks good for having only spent $300 on it! Also for reference - my monitors are 24" and 30". The hutch WILL NOT fit large monitors, but I expected that (most home hutches just don't :( ). ... show more

Packaging was A+. This isn't IKEA stuff, and that's a good thing. Took me about 4 hours to put the desk and hutch together by myself. Lots and lots of parts and pieces, but get yourself organized, lay out all the pieces and go step by step. All pieces and parts are numbered. Can't mess it up unless you try and rush. The only guesswork involved is hammering nails to attach back of hutch. I missed a few by THAT much, catching the edge of the shelves and causing some unsightly damage that contrasted with the dark stain. A black sharpie covered my tracks, mostly. Final product is really nice. Lots of attention to detail, includes some cable management, all drawers and doors have adjustable hardware for a nice, perfect fit. BONUS: didn't expect this, but the finishing plug for the cord hole in the desktop has an integrated USB hub! Plug the end into the computer, and BAM - 4 USB ports right there on the desktop. I don't usually write reviews but for this product I needed to. Four pieces were broken when I opened the package, there were missing pieces for a storage drawer and some wood parts had scratches. Save your money!
