i bought for my son who has asked for it way before Christmas as a Christmas gift but decided to buy it for his bday in January. Any way he is 7 and he loves it. It's about the size of a desktop computer monitor, It comes battery-less, so buy you some handy D3 batteries. It does play music and it can be obnoxiously loud and annoying but they kid loves the thing. He put candy and mini figure toys in it. it grabs good. It comes with little plastic coins to insert to play. So When you place in the batteries, it won't automatically turn on, we learned you have to put a coin in the coin slot, then the music and lights turn on while you play. My daughter got this present as a Christmas gift and it worked really well for the first few weeks. It actually picked up toys and we loved that you can fill it with whatever toys you want (we used squishville mini squishmallows and candy). The music it plays does NOT have an off switch like the one shown on the box and it is very, very loud carnival music. It stopped working after a few weeks and wouldn't even turn on so we had it replaced. The new one seems to be working fine. Overall a great value and would definitely purchase again. ... show more

This is a cute idea. The music is loud and anxiety inducing...it goes faster as you run out of time. You can't put very much stuff in the machine or the claw won't operate well. Not for very small kids. I wouldn't recommend for kids that are sensitive to loud noise.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work properly. You have to insert plastic coins that come with it in order to turn it on but when you put the coins in the slot it doesn’t work. It’s almost as if the coins aren’t thick enough for the machine to register. I had to put a folded up piece of thick paper in the slot to get it to work. It’s also super super loud and obnoxious. There is no button to turn the music off or lower it. The claw itself doesn’t work that great. It’s very hard to pick things up. I filled it with fun sized candy (Twix, Milky Way, KitKat etc.) and it’s extremely hard for the claw to grasp it smooth items. You also have to have 2 or 3 items inside to get the claw to grab it. Very disappointed as it was one of many gifts for my 6 year old twins. I will definitely be returning and looking for a new machine. ... show more

I very rarely write reviews but this claw machine is way better than I anticipated! It really does work very well! It is a bummer that you can’t turn off the music but my child loves it and I specifically bought the Christmas one so it can get packed away with the Christmas stuff. Our elf on the shelf brought this and we filled it with the small elf toys from the elf on the shelf advent train calendar. Small key ring size squishmellows get picked up really well. I also put small Christmas stamps in from party city. I have some small rubber duckies that I think will work well but not tried yet. It’s really important you don’t over fill it or the claw machine seems like it’s not working, realistically it just doesn’t have the space to do what it needs. It’s easy to give the whole thing a little shake to rearrange the toys at the bottom so they’re in a better position to get grabbed. It’s amazing! Highly recommend! ... show more
